Kali also known as Kalika is the ferocious form of the divine mother. The word Kali which is derived from the Sanskrit word kala means Time, according to the most famous legend, Devi Durga wound the Daitya Raktbija ( demon blood seed) She soon find that the situation is worsened as with every drop of blood that was dripped from Raktbija had reproduced a clone of himself, with so many duplicates which were increasing in multiple numbers goddess Durga took the form of Ferocious Kali, She killed the demon by sucking the blood from his body and putting the many Raktabija duplicates in Her gaping mouth. One should carefully study this aspect of Mother Goddess to avoid any misconception by seeing this form of the merciful and protector divine mother.
