Mithila region in North Eastern State of Bihar is the birth place of Madhubani Folk Art Paintings; the style of figures and forms is versatile, generally no space is left empty usually it is filled by motifs of flowers, animals, birds, human figures and geometric patterns. Strong line drawings are the main characteristics of this rural Indian art, basically it is a women’s art, the main paintings are traditionally done on freshly plastered mud walls and floors of huts, but now they are also done on cloth and canvas. This art form was unknown to the world until it was firstly produced on paper in early 1960’s, now these paintings are recognized and reached in collection of art lovers around the world. The subjects are derived from day to day life like child birth, marriage, gods, festivals and nature etc. Painting is done with brush, twigs, figure, pens and match sticks using natural colors extracted from flowers and plants as well as pigment dyes also. One can easily feel the simple yet strong expressions of love joy and peace through this great art.
