The beautiful candle stand with some human figurines on sitting on it has been crafted in the traditional dhokra technique and it reveals the gracefulness and the artistry of this age-old form of brass making art. Dhokra is practiced in the Central part of the country by the tribals and it is crafted in the lost wax technique. According to this technique, a model is sculpted of clay and dried in the sun. Then it’s covered with wax and more clay, forming a mold. The piece is cast, cleaned and again dried in the sun. Finally, it is heated in the ground for five days and polished. |
