Ek Onkar is the first phrase in the Mul Mantra of the Sikkhism meaning "there is only one God;" Ek Onkar is found in the Gurmukhi script and is consequently also part of the Sikh morning prayer, Japji Sahib. Ek Omkar is a combination of two characters: the numeral Ek (one) and the first letter of the word Onkar (God), which is also the first letter of the Gurmukh script with a specially adapted vowel symbol, and is derived from Sanskrit.
