Chiseled out of oxidized copper, the Tibetan Buddha reveals a deep sense of gracefulness and satisfaction. The gold paints over the figure dazzle and gives the image an attractive look. His face reveals a sense of simplicity and refinement. Drapery is being nicely detailed out in the figure and He is seated on a lotus. His left hand is holding the begging bowl and full of long life nectar in his lap. He gives protection from illness, his right hand is outstretched in the gesture of giving and holds the "great medicine", the myrobalan plant. According to Tibetan medicine recognizes three basic illnesses: the root causes of which are the conflicting emotions -- passion, aggression, and ignorance.
