The beautiful brass image of Indian deity Bhairav (also called Shiva) is given a spectacular treatment. The figure is being chiselled out of brass with a greater degree of refinement and sculptural excellence. His companion the dog is also given a detail treatment. Hindu God Shiva is also called Bhairava “the horrifying one” which is doubtlessly the most violent and "impure" manifestation of Siva as it is closely linked to the myth of the decapitation of Brahma, the Creator in the divine Hindu triad (Trimurti).
