Goddess Saraswati is known as Vag Devi,word "Vag" is derived from the Sanskrit word of "Vak" which means speech or word.According to the Vedas, the Divine Mother Vak (Vag Devi) sang the whole creation into being.The Divine Mother Saraswati is the wife of Lord Brahma the creator,therefore She stands for creativity,knoweledge,enlightenment and wisdom.Placing idols of the Goddess in schools is very common in India,students put small idols of the Goddess on there study table for the blessings of the Goddees,"Basant Panchami" the fifth day of season Basant which comes in either the end of January or starting of February is the festival of Devi Saraswati,prayers and pujas are offered to her by children and people on that auspicious day.
