The princes and princesses are out for a royal ride on the elephant as the women of Mithila paint the beautiful painting in the traditional Mithila setting. The use of natural colours, beautiful outlines, the tattoos make the painting a unique one. This art form is practiced exclusively by women. The raw materials used for this painting are papers, satin cloth, fabric cloth, cotton, cloth etc. For painting on paper, they use natural colours and natural powders (holi powder), which are locally abstracted. Local flora and fauna, mythological characters, natural motifs figure prominently in these paintings.
