The Chinese God of prosperity Fu Xing is being nicely carved out of brass in a most artistic manner. He is holding a baby on his arm. The figure is being heavily ornate and from toe to the arm his body is being covered with dress. His beautiful turban, the smiling face, the long  beard all have been detailed out in a most gorgeous manner.

There is an anecdote about hid origin in Chinese mythology. The legend says that Emperor Wu Ti (502-550 A.D) was besotted with midgets. When news came that the district of Dazhou was absolutely packed with tidily people, he was delighted. The imperious Emperor ordered that all midgets be taken from their families and brought to the Imperial Court. There they would be forced to serve as his clowns like some oriental premonition of the Munchkins. Everyone in Dazhou was heartbroken, especially the mothers of the midgets. But Yang Cheng, the Governor of Dazhou, was a kind-hearted soul and, risking his very life, wrote a forceful petition to the Emperor asking him to please leave off.

Instead of the instant death such impudence had earned him, Yang Cheng was granted his request by the abashed Emperor. The midgets and their mothers were so grateful; they bowed down and worshipped him... and he became FU-XING, the God of Happiness and Disasters Averted.
