In this beautiful dhokra figure, the Goddess of prosperity and wealth is given a spectacular treatment. Consort of Lord Vishnu, the goddess is worshiped for wealth and prosperity across the country. Dhokra is an ancient method of casting brass figure, and it is practised by the tribal people in areas of North India. The lost wax method is used here. In this technique, first a model is sculpted of clay and dried in the sun. Then it is covered with beeswax and more clay and a mold is formed. The piece is cast, cleaned and again dried in the sun. Finally, it is heated in the ground for five days and polished.
