DESCRIPTION:

An intense story 'The Immortals of Meluha' draws heavily from stories and legends of Hindu mythology that have been passed on from generation to generation.

First book of the trilogy, the Immortals tale unfolds in Meluha, a land that is ruled by the Suryavanshi tribe that firmly believes in the prophecy of 'Neelkanth' Shiva being their saviour. The Suryavanshi’s (Sun worshipers) are of the firm belief that it would be Shiva who would save them from the wrath of Chandravanshi’s (Moon worshipers).

Blending mythology and philosophy drawn from Hindu traditions, the gripping narrative moves with speed to have Shiva step up to take it upon himself about banishing evil from society.

As the tribal leader of Meluha, somewhere in Tibet, Shiva decides to help the Suryavanshi's in their fight against the Chandravanshi, who have allied with the Nagas, a cursed tribe.

As the drama unfolds, Shiva, the tribal leader from Tibet, gets caught up between the two warring groups, where a realization dawns upon him of how his choice was affecting the war outcome as well as of aspirations of rising above the conflict and its actors begins to dominate the narrative.

The author has creatively woven the legend of Lord Shiva; His marriage to King Daksha's daughter Sati is this first part of the trilogy.

'Secret of Nagas' and 'Oath of the Vayuputras' the second and third part of the same narrative take the story forward as the first part ends with Shiva charging to save Sati from being taken captive by the Naga's.

Spread out in 415 pages, 'The Immortals of Meluha' was first published in 2011. After a slow start, the book soon turned a bestseller and more than two million copies have been sold. Till date it has been translated in fourteen languages.

DESCRIPTION:

The Book provides a comprehensive coverage in relation to History of Bible, and of Churches. It includes sequential timelines, Biblical facts, and overviews of History of both BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini). The Author encircles this phenomenal account of History in two different phases. The First phase is the summation of writings enshrining Bible History, from 4004 B.C. to 1 A.D.
The Second phase is an elaborate Compendium of Church History covering a vast period, that is to say, Ancient Times, Middle Ages and Modern Times (A.D. 33 to the then present day, i.e., A.D. 1916). All the respective Times have been detailed by its demarcation in Epochs.

As Rev. J.L. (John Lancaster) Spalding, the then Bishop of Peoria, himself concluded in the Preface of the Book, revealing the truth about Author’s sole aim “to supply Catholic schools with a complete text-book of sacred History”.
This is an exceptional and a complete Book in itself as it encapsules Bible and Church History; thereby covering 6000 years of heritage (4004 B.C. to A.D. 1916). It incorporates the Origin, History, and Development on the concerned subjects in layman language; also equipped with Pronouncing Vocabulary for beginners and novice learners.

About the Author

Rev. B. J. (Benedict Joseph) Spalding (1850?-1887) was the late Pastor of St. Mary s Church, and Chancellor of the Diocese of Peoria. He had also authored a 2-vol. work titled The History of the Church of God from the Creation to the Present Day.
Rev. John A. (John Andrew) Dillon (1878?-1926) was the Superintendent of Parish Schools, Newark, New Jersey. Other than providing a Compendium on Church History in this Book, he also compiled and edited a Book titled Moments with the Consoling Christ: Prayers Selected from Thomas a Kempis.

DESCRIPTION:

The Sermons and sayings of the Buddha are gems of “purest ray serene”,picked up at random from the vast treasures of Digha Nikaya,Majjhima Nikaya ,Anguttara Nikaya ,Uddana etc. It may be that there are numerous verses and chapters in these noble works that could be considered more illuminating than those selected by us.
But then such a selection as this, of its very nature, can never be fully representative.

The short pieces put together in this volume are not literal translation of the texts on which they are based. The writings published in the present series were not designed to be translations of the Buddhist texts. Our object has been to present in simple language the kernel of Buddhist thought in such a manner that the common man may be able to grasp it without difficulty. Therefore, the success of our endeavor, in our opinion, is to be judged by the reaction of the common man and not that of the spiritual mentor or the literary critic.
