    Description

The brass sculpture of Lord Shiva deeply immersed in meditation has minimal etchings. While the composure of the idol is mesmerizing, it evidently portrays him as Bhole Nath, which means that he is a guileless, simple and kind-hearted benefactor of his devotees. There are many stories that establish how Lord Shiva granted boons to even the crooked of his devotees and has been easier to please than rest of the gods. For example, once Lord Shiva granted boon to a demon Bhasmaasura that whatever he would touch would be reduced to ashes. The demon in turn tried to touch the lord himself. Thereupon, Lord Vishnu had to assume the form of a damsel Mohini and stage a drama to make Bhasmaasura place his hand on his own head.

      Description

The book deals with eleven dialogue-hymns of the Rgveda. The original text in Vedic Sanskrit has been translated in as easy an expression as possible. A worth reading book for those having taste for a peep into and respect for the distant past.

Of the eleven dialogue-hymns of the Rgveda, two of them are composed in soliloquy form and are concerned with a gambler and a mendicant respectively. Three hymns are connected mainly with Indra (the god of rains), two with the couples like Agastya and Lopamudra, and Pururavas and Urvashi, and one with the twin siblings: Yama and Yami. Out of the rest, one hymn displays a delightful and heavenly picture of the marriage ceremony which is traditionally prevalent in India even today, another tells us about the prosperous condition of the ancient traders like Panis, and yet another deals with the crossing through the currents of two rivers by Visvamitra, a Vedic seer.

      DESCRIPTION:

Every moment is precious. There is so little time, not a day to waste on quarreling with those we love, no time for anything that robs our lives of joy, hope and meaning. Dialogue with Death is not a book on death and dying. It is a book about life and living: what life is for, who we are as human beings, why we are here. Yet it is death that forces these questions on us. If we could live forever, there would be little urgency in finding answers. But the fact is that whatever our age or the status of our health, none of us has time to waste in learning what life is for. We begin to take life seriously when we take death seriously. Otherwise, as Thoreau said, we run the risk of discovering, when we come to die, that we have never lived. This is not a negative observation. It is completely positive, for it brings life into focus. Fulfilling the purpose of life becomes our overriding priority and that brings joy, hope, love and meaning to us and to those around us. Let this book be your guide.

                                                                  Description:

Order flows from consistent laws. Our understanding of our universe is changing, but Reality behind it is unchanged. Einstein’s relativity amended Newtonian determinism, and was in turn amended by quantum mechanics. Einstein saw a harmonious advance in knowledge, and said, “God does not play dice”; but Stephen Hawking later saw a radical departure, and said, “God is a gambler”.
This author, a deep student of philosophy with a moderate background of science, sees in these conflicting conclusions the inevitable distortion when “the relative” is projected on to “the Absolute.” Therefore he says, “Do not worry about God. He is not a visiting player like you and me, but the absolute owner of the casino. When He plays, His ieft hand picks up what His right hand loses, His status remains unaltered. We had better be looking out for ourselves.” The serious point made is that the Absolute includes and exceeds the time-space-causation frame of relativity, and these parameters cannot cross the border.
The limitations must be clearly understood.
“Time” of physics is enough to study kinetic processes but not to locate the creative potential. That requires “time” of our conscious awareness. But bio-science mistakes consciousness to be a product of brain-cells. In truth, consciousness is the energy, and brain is the equipment through which it manifests.
Thus TIME is the Achilles’ heel of physics, and MIND is the Achilles’ heel of biology. The name of Reality is Total Consciousness. It is eternal, Death was never born, and life never died.
