The two volumes together may be described as search for the original ideational foundations of Indian Culture. In one way this work recalls the tradition of Coomaraswamy but seeks to join it to the mainstream of critical history. It argues that the living continuity of Indian Culture is rooted in a unique spiritual vision and social experience. Indian Culture is neither the result of merely accidental happenings through the centuries, nor a mere palimpsest of migrations and invasions. It is, in its essence, a development of foundational ideas constituting a creative matrix. Behind its changing historical forms lies a deep and persistent source of creativity which is spiritual in character. The Present volume I deals with the spiritual vision and symbolic forms. Here is has been upheld that the spiritual vision of India had two original aspects, the integral or synoptic vision of the Vedas, and the Sramanic vision of Transcendence. Purnata and Sunyata constituted the two poles round which Indian spirituality revolved. The author not only elucidates this bipolar matrix of Indian spirituality revolved. The author not only elucidates this bipolar matrix of Indian spiritual praxis or sadhana, but also traces its intricate ancient history. He goes on to trace the great symbolic forms-language, myth, science, literature and art-in which this basic vision expressed itself. In all these areas he brings out the basic general principles expressive of inner consciousness rather than present a mere selection of well-known details.

Fish in Madhubani painting symbolizes fertility, procreation, good luck as well as prosperity and respect. Madhubani painting or Mithila painting is a style of Indian painting this is a form of traditional art practiced in northern Bihar, known as the Mithilanchal. Originating from wall paintings or decorations and primarily practiced by rural women, this art form depicts nature and mythological tales, which have been passed on through generations in the form of simplistic graphics in two-dimensional perspective. Painting is done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks, using natural dyes and pigments, and is characterized by eye-catching geometrical patterns. The paintings are traditionally based on mythological, folk themes and pastoral symbols. The central themes of most paintings are love, valor, devotion and fertility, though the approach may vary. So it is common to find scenes of courtship and marriages and symbols of fertility and prosperity like fish, parrot, elephant, turtle, sun, moon, bamboo tree, lotus, etc. in prominence. The highlight of the glorious heritage of Madhubani paintings is the exceptional uses of colours with earthy undertones along with brilliant workmanship.

Description:
In the throes of a global recession as economists advised fierce fiscal restraint, Rik and Zara Leaf sold their house and spent a year traveling around the world with their son Zion and daughter Riel, investing their life savings in the adventure of a lifetime. The thought of abandoning conventional wisdom and getting away with it was too exciting to pass up. Of course the decision to really, go for it, involved lots of anxious “what ifs” and, “are we out of our frigging minds?”
The family filmed horror movies in Canada, ate mafia-made pizza in Germany, got caught sneaking onto a Hollywood set in Hawaii, survived a feral dog attack in Malaysia and dorsal fins emerging from the surf as they swam off the Australian coast.
Throughout the year they produced a video series called, “Where in the World are Zion & Riel?” QR codes, linked to these videos are included in the book, creating an amazing interactive reading experience
