Description:

“Love is the first attainment of invoking Ganesha. The second attainment is betterment of buddhi. Betterment of buddhi leads to the third attainment, greater understanding, and as the result of the first three, the mind becomes creative and intuitive. When the mind becomes creative and intuitive, it follows the path of dharma. This is the fourth attainment. Love and dharma together conquer karma. This is the fifth attainment. These are the five attainments of a sadhaka who is living in the material world. The sixth, seventh and eighth stages are the domain of sadhakas. These include the awakening of Kundalini, the raising of Kundalini and the merger of Shakti with Shiva.” The theme of the satsangs Swamiji gave in August 2012 at Ganga Darshan Vishwa Yoga Peeth was Ganapati aradhana. Swami took us on a journey to the land of Ganesha’s birth, Mt Kailash, and explained the significance of this well-loved deity’s birth, form and the associated symbols. Swamiji also outlined the role of Ganesha in human life and the methods to invoke his grace, as described in the vedic and tantric system.

    Gandhari - Amar Chitra Katha
    Gandhari - Amar Chitra Katha
Stories of many great women, their achievements andtheir sufferings, are recounted in the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Sita, Kunti and Draupadi are among the better known. These women went through several painful ordeals, but they had just one hope to sustain them – they had noble children.

The case of Gandhari, the mother of the Kauravas is different. She was a good woman who gave birth to wicked sons. There was treachery all around her. Her husband was weak and ambitious, her brother Shakuni, was an arch-villain and her hundred sons were filled with hatred and violence. She stood among them, for virtue and truth – like a solitary lotus in a marshy swamp.

A COLLECTION OF EXCEPTIONAL THINK PIECES BY SOME OF THE BRILLIANT MINDS OF OUR TIME

Contributors include: Ela Gandhi • Tushar Gandhi • RA Mashelkar • Anil Kakodkar • Brenda Gourley • Radhakrishnan Pillai • Kumar Ketkar • Rohini Hattangadi • Rajkumar Hirani • Bharat Dabholkar

Compiled and edited by noted scholar Rajan Welukar, Gandhi @ 150 explores the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas in today’s world and the impact of his philosophy across a wide spectrum of areas such as religion, economics, science, education, the arts and health and development.

In this book, the contributors explain how certain Gandhian concepts can be used for our nation’s advancement. For example, ‘Gandhian engineering’ can help boost India’s progress with its focus on getting more from fewer resources for more people. In addition, the gram swaraj approach alone can stop the mass exodus of youth from villages to cities in search of jobs—a major worry for urban planners and village economies today. These are just a few of the many applicable solutions based on Gandhi’s ideas you will come across in these pages.

To celebrate Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, experts from various fields, such as Anil Kakodkar, RA Mashelkar, Douglas Roche, Ela Gandhi, Tushar Gandhi, Justice RC Chavan, Rajkumar Hirani and Daniel C Taylor among others, have contributed to this remarkable anthology. This book will help you understand why Gandhi’s views are relevant now more than ever.

Gandhi and the Break-up of India
Gandhi and the Break-up of India
This book deals with the Mahatma's relationship with Muslims and his role in the partition of India. The author has done extensive research and has traced the roots of the Mahatma's approach to this issue from the South African days through various freedom struggle movements and them to the Partition of India
The book is neither history nor a biography nor even a broad survey of the work of Himalayan dimensions that Gandhiji was able to out in during his public life. However the author has quoted extensively from Gandhiji's speeches and writings to put light on the three points he was accused of-that Gandhiji was pro-Muslim, anti-Hindu and the main cause of the partition of India. This book is a result of references to several hundred published works on Mahatma.

                                          Gandhi Before India
                                          Gandhi Before India
In 1893, when Mohandas Gandhi set sail for South Africa, he was a briefless lawyer who had failed to establish himself in India. In this remarkable biography, Ramachandra Guha argues that the two decades that Gandhi spent in the diaspora were the making of the Mahatma. It was here that he forged the philosophy and techniques that would ultimately destroy the British Empire.
Based on archival research in four continents, this book explores Gandhi's experiments with dissident cults, his friendships and enmities, and his failures as a husband and father. Gandhi Before India tells the dramatic story of how he mobilized a cross-class and inter-religious coalition, pledged to non-violence in their battle against a racist regime.
Deeply researched and beautifully written, this book will radically alter our understanding and appreciation of modern India's greatest man.

This book contains 39 powerful lessons of personal change, gleaned from Gandhi's life. It offers us invaluable advice on creating and leading an enlightened life, a more meaningful, purpose-driven, self-aware and socially responsible life. Drawing from a diverse range of fields such as psychology, management, leadership, philosophy and spirituality, Anand Kumarasamy explains and illustrates each of these lessons in language that is simple, vivid and highly interesting. These lessons are based on timeless principles which, if deeply reflected upon and integrated into our daily lives, can powerfully transform us while positively impacting the world around us.

The Story of a Great Soul, the Power of Nonviolence. Gandhi's face is instantly recognizable. But who was he? How did this young lawyer transform into the 'great soul' who led 400 million Indians in their nonviolent struggle for independence? Easwaran, who grew up in Gandhi's India, offers answers which are important both historically and personally. He gives a moving account of the turning points and choices in Gandhi's life that made him not just a great political leader but also a timeless icon of nonviolence. Gandhi's inner transformation, the essence of this biography, contains an urgent message for us today. Non-violence, Easwaran explains, is a practical method for resolving problems, healing relationships and raising the quality of our lives. It is a skill that is essential for the evolution and perhaps even the survival, of our civilization.
