Before his mahasamadhi in 2009, Sri Swami Satyananda gave a final mandate to his successor, Swami Niranjanananda:"Cultivate the lifestyle of creative expression and bring the tradition of sannyasa to the forefront of modern culture.” This vision took the form of Sannyasa Peeth, an institution dedicated to instilling the spiritual qualides that allow an individual to live a creative and positive life. Swami Satyananda further specified that tine presiding, deities of Sannyasa Peeth will be Sri Narayana and Sri Lakshrni, the sustaining forces of the cosmos, and an annual yajna must be conducted to propitiate them and receive their blessings. Thus, in September 2011, the first Sri Lakshmi-Narayana Mahayajna was held at Paduka Darshan, the seat of Sannyasa Peeth in Munger on the banks of the Ganga.

Description

The beautiful Kalamkari painting depicts the Lord Shiva in his cosmic avatar. Siva as the cosmic dancer, as transformer, the liberator of energy from the spiraling and coiling nature, symbol of spiritual ardor and passion for accomplishment is the most revered icon of Hinduism. His movements orders the rhythms and melodies of the universe, at once a dance into meditative states of transcendence. His dance is the dance of cosmic evolution of matter which knows no beginning, no middle, and no end, and is entwined and engulfed in spirit – from cell to spirituality. Lord Shiva is otherwise known as the destroyer of evil and ignorance, destroyer for the sake of regeneration; transformation and transmutation. Shiva as Nataraja is a quintessential symbol for the meaning of life itself – and the dance and its rhythms and melodies the universe itself. In Siva’s dance, the body becomes the spirit.

The beautiful Patachitra painting of Lord Hanuman is given a refine and detail treatment. The great devotee of Lord Ramchandra, the key figure in Hindu epic Ramayana, is shown here carrying Lord Ram and his brother Lakshmana on his arm. A deep sense of devotion is manifest in the painting. Hanuman played a key role in rescuing Seeta, the wife of Lord Ram, who was abducted by Ravana. The ensuing battle between the demon forces and the vanar sena (forces of monkeys) led by Ram constitutes the theme of the epic.
