The simplicity and the easy going nature of the tribal life is manifest in the beautiful dhokra work. The children are playing on the swing. The happy-go-lucky and the simple life of the people are getting a clear reflection on the work. Dhokra (oldest) is a crafting tradition dating as far back as 2000 B.C. Dhokra art is largely associated with the tribal groups of northern India, including Vindhyas and the Eastern Ghats, Bihar and its surroundings, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. Myriad images are cast in the dhokra tradition as artisans preserve their millenary culture, custom and belief through the wondrous pieces they create.

Lavish, lacy black garnets are put together to make the necklace. Joining the gemstones in a radiant necklace, the artist demonstrates his consummate skill. He links trios of delicate floral bouquets for the matching earrings. The garnet necklace is elegantly crafted out with a deep sense of beauty. Garnets are kind of quartz and are hard enough, have pretty colors. These are wonderfully transparent, lack cleavage and are durable; thus making good choice for gemstones. It is an easily affordable and available as well as widespread stone. Variable in colors and varieties, some garnets are truly unique in the mineral kingdom and have much to offer as both gemstones and mineral specimens. Garnets are the January Birthstone.
