DESCRIPTION:
The Spandakarikas are a number of verses that serve as a sort of commentary on the Siva-sutras. According to Saivagama, the divine consciousness is not simply cold, inert intellection. It is rather spanda, active, dynamic, throbbing with life, creative pulsation.
In Siva-sutras, it is the prakasa aspect of the divine that is emphasized; in Spandakarikas, it is the vimarsa aspect that is emphasized. Together, these two books give us integral view of Saiva philosophy.
Ksemaraja has written a commentary on Spandakarikas, titled Spanda-nirnaya. He is fond of sesquipedalian compounds, long and windy sentences, but he is very profound in the comprehension of the subject and so cannot be ignored.
The author tried to provide a readable translation of both the karikas and the Spanda-nirnaya commentary. Each karika (verse) is given both in Devanagari and Roman script, followed by its translation in English. This is followed by Ksemaraja's commentary in Sanskrit. Then follows an English translation of the commentary. After this, copious notes are added on important and technical words. Finally, a running exposition of each karika in author's own words is given.

A Backbreaking Misadventure in the Himalayas.
A psychedelic odyssey like no other, spanning the exotic foothills of the eastern Himalayas.
In the summer of 2011, two bleary-eyed kids, teetering on the cusp of adulthood, decide to drop out of the daily grind and just travel. But once they hit the road, their plans go out the window. Soon, they are barreling over potholes the size of lunar craters in Nepal, bungee jumping in Rishikesh, waking up to Buddhist chants in Sikkim and cycling down the world’s highest motorable pass in Ladakh. On the way is a constant stream of oddballs, like the five-second-tea lady, the flute-playing hotel manager, flying Sonam, reggae junkies and many more – this journey is all about rolling with the punches.
Special Lassi is one part funny, two parts crazy and a whisper of wistful – for the best things are ephemeral and a lust for life is a dangerous thing.
Specific Principle of Kashmir Saivism throws a clear light on the aspects of Trika Saiva philosophy that remain either untouched or not well-clarified in other schools. Starting with discussion of the theistic absolutism of the Trika system, B.N. Pandit guides us through abhinavagupta's critique of the primary cosmogonic theories of his time - the materialist realism of Samkhya, the momentary-idealism of Vijnanavadas, and the vivarta theory of Advaita Vedanta -en route to establishing the Kashmir Saiva theory of theistic reflectional manifestation as a unique and supremely logical cosmogonic system. Like the topic of cosmogony, several other important principles are unique developments of the Trika system. These topic include: Spanda, Saktipata, the classification of beings, aesthetics, the notion of Sabdabrahman, the relation of the five purana to the four states of consciousness, and Trika yoga. This book illuminates these topics on the basis of the writing of the primary masters of the school, including Vasugupta, Kallata Bhatta, Somananda, Utpaladeva, and Abhinavagupta.
In addition, the author has include a chapter on the vilasa principle as expounded in the Neo-Saiva philosophy (Abhinava-Saivadarsana) of Acarya Amrtavagbhava. This work also includes an index, extensive glossary, and appendix of Sanskrit quotations, making it an invaluable source-book for beginners and scholars alike.
About the Author B.N. Pandit is an eminent Sanskrit scholar, holding a Certificate of Honour, awarded by the President of India. A retired professor of Sanskrit form Himachal University. Dr. Pandit is an internationally respected authority on the Trika Saivism of Kashmir with numerous publications in Sanskrit (8), Hindi (4), and English (4). His Svatantrya Darpana (Mirror of Self-Supremacy) and translation of Abhinavagupta's Paramarthasara (The Essence of the Exact Reality) are also published by us.

DESCRIPTION:
'It looks to me that we need a second vision for the nation, just like the one we had when we were actively pursuing our freedom movement against alien rule. At that time the spirit of nationalism was very strong. This second vision that is needed for making India a developed nation will once again bring the spirit of nationalism to the fore.'' Having tasted the fruits of development Indians are hungry for more-more education, more opportunities, more development. But their dreams of a prosperous and united India seem precariously close to being shattered as the demon of divisive politics, the gaping economic inequalities, the increasing terror and unrest within and at our borders tear into the vitals of the nation and the very idea of nationhood. Under such conditions how do we preserve the core and concept of India and aim for development? Addressing these concerns and providing some answers is Dr. Kalam who believes that at the heart of the nation is the individual and it is only when each individual citizen achieves success that the nation can succeed. Fired by idealism yet grounded in reality, Spirit of India shows that it is possible to progress at both the individual and national level provided we abide by the principle ''that the nation is bigger than any individual or organisation'' and understand that ''only borderless minds can create a borderless society.''
