Description

Shiva and Shakti are inseparable aspects of the Nari (woman) & Ishwar (lord). The sentient and the insentient are the two categories that constitute nature. Nothing exists outside the pale of these two.
Theology abounds in terms such as Uma-Maheshwar, Lakshmi-Narayana, Radha-Krishna, Sita-Rama, Shiva-Shakti, Purusha-Prakriti, Ardhanarishwar, spirit and matter, signifying the twin aspects of Ardhnarisvar. These are all indicative of the fact that existence is a mixture of the sentient and the insentient.
The powers and activities of all beings are manifestations of Shakti alone. Without Shakti , Shiva has no ex-pression; and without Shiva, Shakti has no existence. Shiva is the silent witness. He is motionless and absolutely changeless.
He is not at all affected by the cosmic play. It is Shakti who does everything. She is the power by which the whole universe is permeated and energised. She is the personification of all wealth, power, beauty and virtue. It is she who bestows wealth- both material and spiritual- dispels difficulties and annihilates the evil ones.
The 13th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita is the Yoga of discrimination of the Kshetra and the Kshetrajna. The body is called Kshetra, the field. There is an intelligent principle that not only resides in the body but also cognises and governs it. The sages designate that discerning principle as Kshetrajna.
Therefore true knowledge is the understanding of both matter and Spirit. The knowledge pertaining to Prakriti or matter is classified as Apara Vidya or the lower knowledge and that pertaining to the Purusha or Spirit as Para Vidya or the knowledge superior.
The Mother's grace is boundless. Her compassion is illimitable. Her knowledge is infinite. Her power is immeasurable. Her splendour is indescribable. Approach her with an open heart. Lay bare your heart to her with frankness and humility. Make a total unreserved self-surrender to her. Worship her with faith and unflinching devotion.

In this beautiful applique work, Arjun the archer is given a prolific treatment. Here the master archer is bang on target as a dog looks at.Arjun is wearing a single drapery and his body is painted black whereas he is wearing a maroon cloth. Even the dog is pianted maroon. It was guru Dronacharya who taught Arjun the mastcraft of archery and it was his solemn pledge to make Arjun the world's greatest archer. And indeed Arjun one day became the greatest archer of the world and played a pivotal role in the epic battle of Kurukshetra against Kaurabas. Arjun's concentration on his vision was legendary as he at the time of fixing his arrow saw nothing except the target.

The spectacular Kalamkari painting depicts Draupadi's Swayamvar in sublime finesse. Draupaudi is wearing spectacular clothes. Arjun and Lord Krishna, other Pandavs are also nicely painted. Kalamkari is an ancient and exquisite art work of painted and printed fabrics which literally means pen work. This art form is hand painted and block printed with the use of vegetable dyes. This Indian art has evolved in the last 3000 years and this legacy has been handed down from generation to generation.
Centred around Srikalahasti and Masulipatnam areas in Andhra Pradesh, trees, flowers, creepers and leaf designs are some of the common motifs used by the painters.
Most of the indoor home dcor items are usually placed according to colour schemes and even themes such as animal theme, nature theme, floral theme, spirituality theme, etc.

The heavily ornate Kalamkari painting shows Arjuna at the Swayambara of Draupadi. Literally meaning a pen work, this type of painting developed in the temple region of Kalahasti in Andhra Pradesh. The beautiful painting contains lot of strong lines and drawings. No chemical colours are used in such paintings. Kalamkari art is unique in its use of colour as a medium to portray mythological characters.

The heavily ornate Kalamkari painting shows Arjuna at the Swayambara of Draupadi. Arjuna was one of the heroes of the Hindu epi cMahabharata. His skill in archery was to have an unlikely utility: it won him the hand of Draupadi, his first wife, the daughter of Drupada, king of Panchala. According to Mahabharata a contest was held by Drupada to choose a suitable match for his daughter. A wooden fish was suspended high above a pool of water; furthermore, the fish rotated in a circle. Contestants were required to string a heavy bow and then use it to hit the eye of the rotating fish. They were allowed to take aim at the eye of the fish only by looking at its reflection in the pool of water. Many princes and noblemen vied for the hand of the princess of Panchala, but every one of them was failed except Arjuna, the peerless archer, who alone was able to accomplish the set task; he won the hand of Draupadi. The beautiful painting contains lot of strong lines and drawings. No chemical colours are used in such paintings. Kalamkari art is unique in its use of colour as a medium to portray mythological characters.
