DESCRIPTION:

Tilism-e-Hoshruba is an epic narrative of the adventures of the legendary Persian hero Emir Hamza—the protagonist of Hamza Nama—his sons and grandsons. The epic opens with the commander-in-chief of the Islamic army, Hamza, pursuing Laqa, who makes false claims to divinity. Laqa takes refuge in Kohistan, adjacent to the enchanted land of Hoshruba, ruled by the formidable King of Sahirs, Afrasiyab Jadoo. Afrasiyab reveres Laqa and deputes his sahirs or wizards to help him fight Hamza. Hamza’s grandson Asad then sets out to conquer Hoshruba, assisted by the clever trickster Amar, who possesses divine artefacts such as a cloak of invisibility and a magic pouch containing parallel worlds. Aided by powerful allies and beset at every step by magical snares, dangerous enchantments and seductive sorceresses, the Islamic army finally conquers Hoshruba. Tilism-e-Hoshruba has enthralled generations of readers with its chivalrous heroes, breathtakingly beautiful princesses, powerful sahirs, sahiras and demons. This brilliant condensed translation by Shahnaz Aijazuddin sensitively reinterprets the highly Persianized Urdu of the original text into this eminently readable book that retains the essence of the original.

                                                  Till the Clouds Roll By
A couple of years after his father's death, ten-year-old Ruskin travels to Dehradun to spend his holidays with his new family. As he reacquaints himself with his mother, now remarried and with a busy social life, his stepfather and new siblings, a pensive Ruskin longs for his father's company, his stamp collection and the old gramophone. Trying to escape this unfamiliar place, he immerses himself in books and explores the forest glades, canals and bazaars of the little town, forming some unlikely friendships on the way.
After the much-loved Looking for the Rainbow, the master storyteller lends another backward glance at his boyhood years-a vacation that took place over seventy winters ago-remembering his days with rare humour, remarkable charm and twinges of heartache.

The beautiful Warli painting has painted the serene beauty of a rural setting with much beauty and colour. The painting is full of life, as the rural folks have been shown moving here and there with much enthusiasm. The natural dyes have been mixed in a most balance manner giving the painting an extra attraction. The river flowing in the middle of the village, the long human chain have made the beautiful Warli painting even more beautiful.

The colourful Patachitra painting depicts the ecstasy people have during the time of festival. It depicts various gods and goddesses along with their devotees with musical instruments. Temples with the idols of the gods and goddesses are also painted. Derived from the Sanskrit words patta (a piece of cloth), chitra (painting or picture), Patachitra is a folk art form drawn on a piece of silk, cotton or any other fabric, portraying traditional motifs and imageries of religion and society.

The leisure time of the couple has been painted by the Batik artist using vibrant colour patterns and strong lines. The lines used here are quite sharp and this gives a beautiful effect to the painting. Applying the wax resist and systematic cracking are the key to a beautiful art piece. The characteristic batik effect is created by cracking of wax on the lighter hues and seeping in of the darker colors though them. Once the wax is removed it leaves behind an impression of beauty.

In this collection of passages for meditation, Eknath Easwaran brings the wisdom of the world's great saints and sages within our reach. These are powerful, universal wisdom texts that inform and transform. Enjoy them for their poetic and intellectual appeal Or study them slowly, with concentration Or meditate on them, so that the words come to life in your thoughts and actions. The great saints and sages are the world's spiritual geniuses -men and women such as the Compassionate Buddha, Francis of Assisi, Teresa of Avila and the sages of the Upanishads. They come from different faiths, different times, but they all discovered the same changeless reality underlying the shifting world of sense experience. By reminding us of our essential goodness, they give us hope. Through the legacy of their words, they show us what it means to think in freedom, love fully and see life as it really is. Easwaran chose texts that are positive, practical and inspiring, that express the universal ideals of love, steadfastness and wisdom. They can be read as holy words but also as the promptings of our true self, the core of goodness within us. Read this book again and again and let these saints and sages take you to the heart land of the spirit within.
