The fabled Neelkanth, Shiva, is faced with his greatest challenge. He is forced onto a path of vengeance where nothing is as it seems, in The Secret of The Nagas (Shiva Trilogy). The hunt is on for a mysterious naga assailant who has taken the life of one of Shiva's close associates and now preys on his wife. This thirst for revenge will
bring him face to face with the truth behind the mysterious nagas. The nagas are a deformed race of warriors with exceptional fighting skills, whose motives are hidden. They play a central role in a conspiracy that has brought a once mighty kingdom to its knees. And if Shiva is to break the deadlock, he must travel deep into hostile territory,
where he will face a deadly adversary. At Kashi, Shiva's wife, Sati, who has recently given birth to their child, stays behind to help the King with an entirely different kind of battle. As Shiva's journey takes him away from her, she will uncover a secret that will change both their lives forever. Will Shiva and Sati's marriage survive, when the
line between friend and foe becomes blurred?

          Description:

Enlightenment. What is it? Much has been written about it. Many have tried to describe it or show how to attain it.
Does one get enlightenment from reading about how to get it? Or listening to a guru who is enlightened? Or spending years in solitude? Or contemplation? Or does it just come one day all by itself to the true seeker?
Apparently in any or all of these ways. Or none of them.
If the seeker gets hung up on the book, or the guru, or the practice, or the solitude then no enlightenment. That would be like travelling on a journey to a specific destination and then clinging to a beautiful signpost that points the way.
One must desire enlightenment passionately and not desire it. One must search for it and remain unperturbed at not having got it.
Enlightenment will come. In its time. Can the seeker wait? In patience? In silence?
‘Not a Serpent, Not a Rope’ is a collection of tales that emerge from the collective wisdom of this world. The Introduction in the beginning of the book suffices to explain why it was written.

“People always ask ‘what do you think about unknotting the karmic knots? ‘ That’s Vedanta. Unknotting your tendencies by techniques, by meditation or something. You come to me, we are doing the opposite! I put so many knots in your bloody brain that you cannot even imagine that they ever will be gone. Because succeeding by unknotting knots makes the first knot, that there is one who has knots, stronger and stronger. No, I go the opposite way. I make so many knots for you, maybe there is a point of giving up even trying to unknot them. Because then laziness is there, your Nature. The laziest of the laziest.“

Welcome to Circus Renz! Are you ready for a high-speed roller coaster ride through spiritual concepts that might blow your mind and turn your understanding upside down? The experience of reading Karl Renz might just take you somewhere where your mind can’t follow, leaving you with a refreshing sense of wonder about what just happened. ‘May it be as it is’ is a collection of talks Karl gave in Mumbai in 2010 and 2011. Enjoy the ride!

After giving ‘Self-talks’ around the world for many years, Karl Renz came to Mumbai to give talks for the first time in 2010. He doesn’t fit into any category but calling him an ‘Advaita Punk’ might come close to describing the experience of the talks. Most people who discover him get addicted to the careless irreverence and ‘sixth sense of humour’ of this brilliant Advaita entertainer.

Jaffna Street: Tales of Life, Death, Betrayal and Survival in Kashmir
                  Description

In 1989, an adolescent schoolboy from downtown Srinagar watched as his elders extricated themselves from university campuses, high-school grounds, handloom machines and farms to bear arms and fight a war of attrition against the Indian state.

Twenty-two years on, Jaffna Street was born from his explorations of the human dimension of the conflict appositely termed the Kashmir tragedy. Combining anecdotes, personal memories and extended interviews, the author takes us behind the scenes and headlines into Srinagar city’s ‘notorious’ perpetually politically charged downtown as well as its upper city side belt to create a panoramic portrait of recent Kashmir history. He profiles ordinary people—hit men, insurgents, artisans, failed Marxist intellectuals, mystics, exiles, gangsters and ordinary individuals—who wouldn’t make it even to the footnotes of history but have been crucial first-hand witnesses, participants or victims of some of the important events that marked the tumultuous and violent years of the insurgency.

Mano Majra is a place, Khushwant Singh tells us at the beginning of this classic novel, where Sikhs and Muslims have lived together in peace for hundreds of years. Then one day, at the end of the summer, the 'ghost train' arrives, a silent, incredible funeral train loaded with the bodies of thousands of refuges, bringing the village its first taste of the horrors of the civil war. Train to Pakistan is the story of this isolated village that is plunged into the abyss of religious hate. It is also the story of a Sikh boy and a Muslim girl whose love endures and transcends the ravages of war.

                  Till the Clouds Roll By
A couple of years after his father's death, ten-year-old Ruskin travels to Dehradun to spend his holidays with his new family. As he reacquaints himself with his mother, now remarried and with a busy social life, his stepfather and new siblings, a pensive Ruskin longs for his father's company, his stamp collection and the old gramophone. Trying to escape this unfamiliar place, he immerses himself in books and explores the forest glades, canals and bazaars of the little town, forming some unlikely friendships on the way.
After the much-loved Looking for the Rainbow, the master storyteller lends another backward glance at his boyhood years-a vacation that took place over seventy winters ago-remembering his days with rare humour, remarkable charm and twinges of heartache.

Poet, novelist, painter and musician Rabindranath Tagore created the modern short story in India. Written in the 1890s, during a period of relative isolation, his best stories—included in this selection—recreate vivid images of life and landscapes. They depict the human condition in its many forms: innocence and childhood; love and loss; the city and the village; the natural and the supernatural. Tagore is India’s great Romantic. These stories reflect his profoundly modern, original vision. Translated and introduced by William Radice, this edition includes selected letters, bibliographical notes and a glossary.

                  Sunlight On A Broken Column
Laila, orphaned daughter of a distinguished Muslim family, is brought up in her grandfather's house by orthodox aunts who keep purdah. At fifteen she moves to the home of a 'liberal' but autocratic uncle in Lucknow. Here, during the 1930s, as the struggle for Indian independence intensifies, Laila is surrounded by relatives and university friends caught up in politics. But Laila is unable to commit herself to any cause: her own fight for independence is a struggle against the claustrophobia of traditional life, from which she can only break away when she falls in love with a man whom her family has not chosen for her. With its beautiful evocation of India, its political insight and unsentimental understanding of the human heart, Sunlight on a Broken Column, first published in 1961, is a classic of Muslim life.

                  Six Acres And A Third
This sly and humorous novel by Fakir Mohan Senapati—one of the pioneering spirits of modern Indian literature and an early activist in the fight against the destruction of native Indian languages—is both a literary work and a historical document. Set in Orissa in the 1830s, Six Acres and a Third provides a unique ‘view from below’ of Indian village life under colonial rule. This graceful translation faithfully conveys the rare and compelling account of how the more unsavory aspects of colonialism affected life in rural India.

Seven Summers, first drafted when Mulk Raj Anand was a student at London University but not published till 1951, recreates teh events and feelings of the first seven years of the writer's life, or what he called his 'half unconcious and half conscious childhood'. first of the seven volumes of autobiographical fiction that Anand conceptualized but never completed, this book is full of memorable scenes and people observed through the eyes of a child. the most impressive of them all being the Coronation Durbar in Delhi to which our young hero is smuggled wrapped in a blanket so that the Sahibs might not object to the presence of 'so discordant an element into so gorgeous a ceremony'. this edition of Seven Summers is a special reissue of the classic autobiography to commemorate Anand's birth centenary.

Spine-tingling tales from the other side of midnight. Indigo is the mood in this new collection of stories about the supernatural, the peculiar and the inexplicable from Satyajit Ray, one of the best-loved writers of our times. There are tales here of dark horror, fantasy and adventure along with heart-warmingly funny stories about ordinary people in extraordinary situations. In 'Big Bill' Tulsi Babu picks up a newly-hatched chick from a forest and brings it home only to find it growing bigger and fiercer by the day; in 'Khagam' a man kills a sadhu's deadly pet snake and invites a curse which brings about horrifying changes in his body; and in the title story, a young executive resting in an old abandoned bungalow for a night, finds himself caught up in a chilling sequence of events which occurred more than a century ago. Also included here is 'The Magical Mystery', a brand new Feluda story discovered amongst Ray's papers after his death, and several tales featuring Uncle Tarini, the master storyteller who appears in translation for the first time. From Mr. Shasmal, who is visited one night by all the creatures he has ever killed, to Ashamanja Babu, who does not know what to do when his pet dog suddenly begins to laugh, the unforgettable characters in these stories surprise, shock and entertain us in equal measure. Indigo is a veritable treasure trove especially for those who like a taste of the unusual in a short story and an unexpected twist at the end. Translated from the Bengali by the author and Gopa Majumdar.

                  Gora
Nobel Prize-winning author Rabindranath Tagore’s most ambitious work Gora unfolds against the vast, dynamic backdrop of Bengal under British rule, a divided society struggling to envisage an emerging nation. It is an epic saga of India’s nationalist awakening, viewed through the eyes of one young man, an orthodox Hindu who defines himself against the British colonialist culture and finds himself approaching his nationalist identity through the prism of organized religion. First published in 1907, Gora questions the dogmas and presuppositions inherent in nationalist thought like few books have dared to do. This new, lucid and vibrant translation brings the complete and unabridged text of the classic to a new generation of readers, underlining its contemporary relevance.
