Vegbhata, the author of Astanga Hrdayam, enjoys significant popularity among the Ayurvedic fraternity. It appears that it is he who conceptualized the idea of compliation. Understanding the vastness of material available in the classic of Caraka, Susruta, Saunaka etc, he took up the responsibility of penning down a classic that will comprise of all the material available in the classics. Thus was born ‘Astanga Hrdaya Samhita’ of Vagbhatacarya.
Salient Features of Astanga Hrdayam:
Vagbhata quotes the reason for compiling the text in following worlds – ‘From those treatise which are very elaborate hence difficult to study, only the essence has been collected and this treatise – Astanga Hrdayam – prepared which is neither too succinct nor too elaborate’ The main subject of Vegbhata’s Astanga Hrdayam is

and Siddha was able to understand this secret. The Siddha seer found that Matrkas are classified in four states called Jagrata or Awaken state; Svapna or Dream state, Susupti or Deep sleep state and Turiya or Fourth state and above all is Turiyatita state which is house of all. He explored that they all are related to each other in a way that they reveal the secret of evolution and liberation of living being and secrets of Lord Siva and Sri Lalita Tripurasundari. He explained all this by the help of Sutras.
Being divided into five chapters, first four chapters of this book keep saying that Lord Siva's power is frigid in nature however as he writes fifth chapter, he reveals a secret which is no less than a great suspense of this entire work.
With great command on subject, great seer had compile the entire mystic relation of Sri Lalita Tripura Sundari, Sri Yantra, Matrka, Lord Siva, Sakti, living being, four states with fifth one, prameya, pramana and pramata and this world in such a beautiful manner that it looks more a Tantrika symphony than a Tantrika book.

The pre-modern diagnostics as prevalent and propounded by seers like Caraka and Susruta and countless other scholars was precisely put together by the Madhava Nidana authored by Madhavakara somewhere in 9th century AD. The work seems to have immediately caught the attention of physicians in India and abroad who found it the most serviceable text on diagnostics. Small wonder, many scholars produced commentaries on Madhava Nidana across the country. These commentaries detailed the ideas contained in the work and on occasions, even advanced, and repudiated the assumptions of Madhavakara as well as that of great seers of the yore. A reading into the various commentaries on Madhava Nidana demonstrates the background of Argumentative Indian Prof Amartya Sen has been talking about recently. It also demonstrates the old Indian spirit of tolerance and the practice of lending a patient ear to the diverse and contradictory views. Nonetheless, it is only a truism that decline of Ayurveda mostly owed to its poor standards of diagnostics. Therefore, it is significant that an authentic text on Ayurvedic diagnosis along with is Commentary is brought to the access of English knowing readers. In preparing the present work, it was a matter of satisfaction for us as we attempted to add modern perspectives every here and there in the text.
It is hoped that through the present work, the

Sri Rudra Candi: Sri Durga Saptashati, is the most venerable worship epic of shakts; its variegated forms are available in this world though most of them are hidden from the common worshipers. This Sri rudrachandi, is one such epic which tells us how, Sri rudrachandi only killed; Madhu-Kaitabh, Mahishasur and shumbha- Nishumbha to liberate this world from their fear. If this is recited as per fiven rituals, under the guidance of an able Guru; it would fulfill all wishes of a seeker and would finally take him to the feet of Goddess.
The present translation of both epics together, is an effort, to look at the very basic aspects of them; by the eyes of a modern day seeker. It is done, so that their cosmopolitan approach and concept of Sri Kali, may further help to find the solutions of the anticipations of present day seeker’s life.BK9028

Description
Adhbut Ramayan authored by sage Valmiki, who is famous for his classic epic ‘Ramayan’. Describes a highly strange, mysterious and fantastic version of the epic story of Lord Ram, the legendary king emperor of Ayoydhya and an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the supreme Lord in creation. It reveals many hitherto little known events in the life of Lord Ram and his divine consort Sita which Valmiki knew but desisted from incorporating them in his earlier epic. He wrote this classic work ti fill that gap and put the record straight.
This classic book can be broadly divided into two parts. The first (canto 1-16) elaborately describes some mysterious and strange circumstances pertaining to the birth of Lord Ram and Sita; it also contains profound Vedanta philosophies when Sri Ram preaches Hanuman about them. the second part (canto 17-27) presents the story of Sri Ram’s campaign against the thousand headed demon king Ravana of Pushkar who was the elder brother of the ten headed Ravana of Lanka, and much stronger and powerful than latter. In this war, Sita assumed the form of mahakali, the dar-skinned Goddess worshipped as Shakti, to slay this Ravana and his demon force. The demon army has been described in great detail.
The climax of the book and the aspect which makes it so unique and holy is when lord Rama prays to the cosmic Goddess or Shakti uning 1008 divine names or mantras which describe and enumerate the various glories virtues and attributes of the magnificent Shakti of Mother Nature. This is the only classic Composition where the Shakti has been worshipped using there profound mantras. This volume describes the text in great detail, incorporating commentary explanatory & relevant notes when requi
More than one method of purification and incineration of ‘Rasadravya’ are intentionally explained in the book to make the students understand the rationality behind each method. UG students may choose the easiest method advised by their learned teachers. However, for PG scholars it is better if they meticulously go through all the explained methods to evaluate, compare, and understand the rationality.
It is appealed to the readers of this text to think over the explained concepts with an open and unconventional mindset.
Hope this book will be useful to everyone in the field of Ayurveda, especially to the under graduates, the postgraduates and the students appearing for PG entrance examination.

And the roar came back to him, calling him, calling him forward: a roar that meant there would be more tigers in the land!’
For decades now Ruskin Bond has been charming us with his simple and captivating tales of Himalayan fauna; the zany and temperamental animals that were part of his grandfather’s delightful menagerie of unusual pets in Dehra; the peaceful creatures that live in and around his house in Mussoorie; and the mythical and fanciful beings of his fertile imagination.
The Big Book of Animal Stories is a compilation of the best of Ruskin Bond animal stories and poems. Its pages are inhabited by the doughty tiger who survives against all odds, spelling hope for India’s fast-vanishing wildlife; the beautiful, sinewy leopard whose trust costs him dear; the good-natured hornbill who loves the rain; the mischievous monkey who insists on shaking hands with all who visit the house; the cross-grained cassowary bird who rudely rebuffs all attempts to befriend it; the python who keeps turning up in unexpected places; the squirrel who picks crumbs off the table; the beetle who keeps falling into the goldfish bowl; the whistling thrush; the leopard girl; and the tiger king. Bringing together the finest writing by a master storyteller on the creatures, humble and mighty, that inhabit this earth along with us, this collection will enchant the Bond aficionado and initiate alike.

‘About ten yards in front of him, crawling along the floor, was a man’s hand. Eustace stared at it in utter amazement. It was moving quickly in the manner of a geometer caterpillar, the fingers humped up one moment, flattened out the next; the thumb appeared to give a crablike motion all the while. While he was looking, too surprised to stir, the hand disappeared round the corner.’

Patanjali Ayurved has turned out to be the most disruptive force in the Indian FMCG market…it witnessed a whopping annual growth of 146% in fiscal year 2016, grossing a turnover of $769 million.’—Assocham–TechSci research report
When in 1965, at Saidalipur, a nondescript village in Haryana, a baby boy was born to a marginal farmer, there was hardly any celebration. They were happy to receive what they believed was ‘the most precious gift from God’ but there was no time to pause, reflect or celebrate. People needed to get on with their lives. Little did they realize that the newborn would take this philosophy of detachment to a different level altogether. And if this detachment was induced in their life by poverty and hardship, three decades later their child was to show the world how to practise the same philosophy and even, while doing so, gather unimaginable wealth—an approximate net sum of `10,000 crore. He was to become Baba Ramdev, the celebrated yoga guru, and one of the founders of Patanjali Ayurved Limited and Patanjali Yogpeeth.
The Baba Ramdev Phenomenon offers a detailed account of Ramdev’s journey from attaining moksha in the Himalayas to ruling the market, especially the FMCG sector, with his Patanjali products. It captures the rise and rise of Patanjali and the various factors that worked for it, most importantly, the vision of Ramdev and the able assistance of his associate Acharya Balkrishna.
