            Description

Mother goddess Durga is depicted here as a warrior woman riding a lion with multiple hands carrying weapons and assuming symbolic hand gestures. She is portrayed here as the embodiment of feminine and creative energy (Shakti). Durga was the creation out of the combined energies of all the gods and goddesses to kill the demon Mahishasur. Her form was blindingly beautiful with 3 lotus-like, blood-bordered eyes, ten powerful hands, hair in the form of black pearls, golden glow from her skin. Her face was sculpted by Shiva, torso by Indra, breasts by Chandra (the moon), teeth by Brahma, bottom by the Earth, thighs and knees by Varuna (wind), and her three eyes by Agni (fire). Each god also gave her their own most powerful weapons, Rudra's trident, Vishnu's discus, Indra's thunderbolt, Brahma's kamandal, Kuber's gada etc. Himalayas gifted her a fierce white tiger. On the end of the 8th & beginning of the 9th day of waxing moon, Chanda and Munda came to fight the goddess. Her form was the most powerful one with 3 red eyes, blood-filled toungue and dark skin; who finally killed the twin demons with her sword. The figure has been heavily decorated with the goddess and the roaring lion being given equal treatment.

                                Description

The brass figure of Siddhi Vinayak is nicely cut with some spectacular designs and carvings. The Lord is shown seated. Lord Ganesha is known as Sri Siddhi Vinayak and is worshiped before beginning any new rituals. Even before puja of any god Ganesha is worshipped. It is believed that Ganesha can remove any obstacle and hardships from the life of the people who worship him and He is the Remover of Obstacles. The story of lord Ganesha’s birth is very interesting. Lord Ganesha is the son of Shiva and Parvati. Parvati was urged upon by the gods that her son was required for the benefit of the world. She one day was taking bath and suddenly she thought she should perhaps have a son so that he will always be with her. She used the turmeric paste from her body to make a sculpture of a small boy. She used her tantra powers and imparted life to the idol. This was how Ganesha was born and Parvati named him Vinayak. In this whole process Lord Shiva was engrossed in deep meditation and hence was in the dark about the birth of the new child.

The spectacular brass figure of Lord Shiva, one of the Trinity Gods in Hinduism, the other two being Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma, and His wife Parvati (also known as Gauri) with his two sons is given a refine and minute treatment with some exquisite carvings on it. The divine couple, considered in Hinduism, as the most-ideal couple, are shown seated on the vehicle of Lord Shiva, that is the Nandi Bull. Whereas the couple are wearing lot of jewelleries, the Bull is given equal importance in the figure. Lord Shiva is the symbol of love and affection and he is known for His deep love and care towards Parvati. His deep love is manifest in the figure.
