These five children seem to be enjoying the company of the fat belly Laughing Buddha. There is a deep imprint of simplicity and joy in the figure. The children along with the Laughing Buddha have been nicely treated reflecting a sense of attention to details. Laughing Buddha statues show a stout, smiling or laughing bald man in robes with a largely exposed pot belly stomach. His belly symbolizes happiness, good luck, and prosperity. His image graces many temples, restaurants, and amulets, as he has become a deity of contentment and abundance. A Laughing Buddha is considered very auspicious and is usually placed facing the door. It is believed that if a person rubs his belly it brings good luck.
