This beautiful statue depicts Krishna, Radha and Gopis in Raslila. It’s a traditional story of lord Krishna and his divine love with Radha. It is believed that the Indian classical dance 'Kathak' evolved from the 'Raslila'. Hearing the melodious sound of flue by Lord Krishna, the gopis used to sneak out of their houses. This statue depicts such a moment.

The saga of great love between Lord Krishna and Radha has been epitomized in the beautiful Batik painting with the Lord holding her drapery. Radha wants to go away showing some sense of anger but the Lord is in no mood to let her go. Krishna is sitting on a cloth with two cushions and Radha is standing. The headgear of the Lord is being decorated with some greater degree of refinement. The method of dewaxing has given some beautiful impact in the painting. The faces of the couple reflect a sense of gracefulness as well as some degree of amorous feeling.

Krishna's Holi
Holi is a very ancient festival, descriptions of Lord krishna's celebration of Holi comes in the scripture Srimad Bhagwad,Holi is a festival of colors,Lord Krishna played Holi with the milkmaids,in his youth. The tradition is carried on till today and people from all over India throng to witness the festivities in Brajabhoomi Mathura which is famous for its long time celebration.
The most common feature of the celebration in most parts of India is the lighting of the bonfire on the eve of Holi followed by celebrations with colour, the next day.The bonfire is lit to signify the burning of Holika,a mythical she demon. It is also in honour of the fire god who is offered new corn and other food items. The next day is the festival of colours.People smudge Powdered colour called Gulal on each others face.Soluble Colours are mixed with water and buckets of coloured water are prepared. This colour is squirted on each other with the help of pichkaris, long syringe like cylinders with a piston.
The Pata painting depicts Lord Krishna overpowering the Kaliya, the serpent. There was a great lake near the river Yamuna. Here resided the black and venomous serpent Kaliya. Due to his poisonous vapors, the surrounding area was so contaminated that no living being would dare venture near the place. One day Krishnas fellow cowherds went near the lake and after drinking water fell sick. Krishna after learning this said: I shall vanquish this king of serpents and release the inhabitants of the country from their continual dread. Following a fierce battle, Krishna overpowered the serpents and following the prayers by the wives of the Kaliya, he pardoned Kaliya on the condition that Kaliya would leave the place forever. The manner in which Krishna subdues Kaliya has a fascinating quality about it. The dance to victory, the effortless rhythm of the Almighty's pace of creation and destruction, the ease, the grace, the sheer play in the manifestations of the Lord's will, to which wind and water provide enchanted accompaniment, are beautifully brought out in the narrative. Indeed, this is the first inkling in textual material of Krishna as natwar (the dancer).

Lord Krishna as a child itself showed his universal power such as overpowering the Kaliya snakes. The beautiful pata painting depicts some of the glorious moments from the life of this god, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. His dance with the gopis, Vishnu’s various incarnations, crossing the river Yamuna all are given a nice depiction with the use of some beautiful colour patterns and outlines.
The spectacular bras figure of Lord Krishna and His beloved Radha is given an exquisite treatment with some sparkling designs. The beautiful brass figure immortalizes the saga of love and affection between Radha and Krishna. The heavily ornate figures of Krishan and Radha are embellished with some exquisite carvings and floral designs. A deep amorous feeling is manifest here.

Krishna abandons himself to the magical notes of his flute. Here the Lord stands in an unusual pose known as 'Tribhanga' where the body is curved at three angles with utmost grace and beauty, shown playing the Murali or flute bewitching the Gopis (cow-herd girls) and Gopalakas (Cow-herd boys) of Vrindavana.
Lord Krishna is one of the most important deity in Hinduism and he is widely worshipped by the Hindus across the globe. Here the lord is playing his flute creating an immortal tune of love and piety. This beautiful work is crafted with the ancient dhokra technique, a laborious lost wax process practiced in north Indian region of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. In this technique, first a model is sculpted of clay and dried in the sun. Then it is covered with beeswax and more clay and a mold is formed. The piece is cast, cleaned and again dried in the sun. Finally, it is heated in the ground for five days and polished.

The Batik painting on Lord Krishna is a treat to eyes. The method of dewaxing has generated some beautiful impact on the painting. Whereas Lord Krishna with His immortal flute has been painted blue, the cow is left white. Lord Krishna’s garland over the neck, the drapery are also well painted. Popular in West Bengal, Orissa and Tamil Nadu, these paintings are known for their originality, uniqueness and fineness. Batik (literally means 'wax writing') is the art of creating images on the cotton cloth using wax resist method.

"If ever we are to understand ourselves, says Krishnamurti, we must look at the state of the world, with all its violence and conflict. To turn away from world events is for him not to be alive to what life has to teach us. Facing a World in Crisis presents a selection of talks thatKrishnamurti gave on how to live and respond to troubling and uncertain times. His message of personal responsibility and the importance of connecting with the broader world is presented in a non-sectarian and non-political way. Direct and ultimately life-affirming, this book will resonate with readers today who are looking for a new way to understand and find hope in challenging times. Part One of the book consists of seven talks that Krishnamurti gave in Saanen, Switzerland, in 1972. Part Two contains, edited and slightly abridged, the last four talks and two question-and-answer sessions he held in England in 1985."Main menu
