The method of dewaxing has added beauty to this genre of painting. Batik prints of West Bengal, Orissa and Tamil Nadu are known for their originality, uniqueness and fineness. Batik is the art of creating images on the cotton cloth using wax resist method. The painting is a reflection of high quality designs and intricate patterns.

A sense of simplicity is manifest in this beautiful dhokra figure. The lady is plucking flowers for her beloved one. This spectacular work is chiseled with the ancient dhokra technique, which is a laborious lost wax process. First, a model is sculpted of clay and dried in the sun; it is then covered with beeswax and more clay, forming a mold. The piece is cast, cleaned and again dried in the sun. Finally, it is heated in the ground for five days and polished. This style is associated with the tribal groups of northern India, including Vindhyas and the Eastern Ghats, Bihar and its surroundings, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. Myriad images are cast in the dhokra tradition as artisans preserve their millenary culture, custom and belief through the wondrous pieces they create.

Cast in the ancient dhokra technique, the reflects a simple mind of the tribal people in North India.
