The beautiful Kalamkari painting depicts the Lord Krishna driving the chariot for Arjuna at the battle of Kurukshetra. Developed in the temple region of Andhra Pradesh (Kalahasti), Kalamkari is a traditional painting style with strong line drawings. Paintings are made on cotton fabrics with a kalam i.e. pen, a sharp pointed pierced bamboo that regulates flow of colour on the fabric. Vegetable dyes are mainly used on cloth.

The sparkling image of boating on the river Yamuna by the Lord Krishna along with the female gopis has been beautifully executed in the traditional Patachitra framework. One beautiful lady is driving the boat that too is being nicely executed with some dazzling designs on it. Two other gopis are looking towards Krishna. The painting reveals some greater sense of gracefulness and accomplishment.

The story of child Krishna dancing on Kaliya reflects the presence of the Supreme Being inside the child. The painter has painstakingly painted the carefree child Krishna. Though a child Krishna was the master of the Universe and the gracious face of the child just reflects that. The wives of Kaliya begged the Lord with folded hands to spare their husband. Krishna decided to banish Kaliya to the great ocean never to return again. Thereafter, the giant snake along with his wives, departed forever, and the transcendental Lord re-joined His cowherd friends on the bank of the Yamuna, to continue their wonderful pastimes in the land of Vrindavana.

Description

The dazzling statue of the Vishnu in his virat form (omnipresent ) that he shows up in front of Arjuna at the battle field of Kurukshetra is a masterpiece of marble sculpture. Carved out of a single block of white marble, the figure shows some beautiful carvings of golden works and the smiling faces of the godheads. In the Bhagavad Gita, part of the epic Mahabharata, there is a point in the discourse between Arjuna and Krishna wherein Arjuna asks the Lord for a vision of his true form. Krishna grants this vision, both glorious and terrifying, in which Arjuna sees the entire universe inside Krishna. This great form of Krishna is called virat-rupa (omnipresent or vast form). The hands of the godheads as well as their headgears have some beautiful golden works on them. The yellow and green drapery is also impressive.
