In this spectacular Pata painting, Lord Krishna is shown riding a Nari Kunjar (elephant made of gopinis). The artist paints the gopinis in the form of an elephant amidst floral environment. This is a quaint genre of art that has had its origins in Medieval India. This particular art form is called Kunjar, a Sanskrit term meaning the elephant. This is largely due to the place of prominence attributed to the Elephant form in its early designs. An unusual form of art, it was primarily designed to highlight the artist’s skills of composition and ‘assemblage’, most importantly within the parameters of a frame work. Animal frames were commonly used though initially restricted, to those of the Elephant and the Horse. The most impressive aspect of this art form was the innovative use of the figure of the woman, nari, presented usually in multiple numbers. Here even the borders are marked prominently with some floral designs.

Nataraja, The Lord of Dance is a depiction of the Hindu god Shiva as the cosmic dancer who performs his divine dance to destroy a weary universe and make preparations for god Brahma to start the process of creation.--Fine quality block painted

A sense of gracefulness, effulgence is manifest in this beautiful Batik painting. Here the Lord is in Nataraj posture. The background is sparkling.
Lord Shiva, as the Nataraj, represents the rhythmic motion of life. He is considered the Master of all the 64 forms of dance mudras. The painting in variegated colours is full of life and enthusiasm. The method of waxing and then dewaxing, a characteristic feature of this genre of painting, gives rise to a special effect in the painting. It is believed that on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri, Shiva performs the ecstatic dance of realization (Nataraja). The dance symbolises the thrill of god-realisation.

Description
The beautiful silver pendant depicts the Lord of Dance in a most prolific manner. The Lord of Destruction is dancing in a rhythmic motion. As Nataraj (Sanskrit: Lord of Dance) Lord Shiva represents catastrophe and creation as he dances away the illusive world of Maya transforming it into power and enlightenment.
Here the Lord is shown as the source of all movement within the cosmos, represented by the arch of flames. The purpose of the dance is to release men from illusion of the idea of the "self" and of the physical world. The cosmic dance was performed in Chidambaram in South India, called the center of the universe by some Hindus. The gestures of the dance represent Shiva's five activities, creation (symbolized by the drum), protection (by the "fear not" hand gesture), destruction (by the fire), embodiment (by the foot planted on the ground), and release (by the foot held aloft).

Description
The beautiful Kalamkari painting depicts the Lord Shiva in His Nataraj form. One of the Trinity Gods in Hinduism, the other two being Lord Brahma and Vishnu, Lord Shiva is the master of dance. Nataraj Shiva represents the rhythmic motion of life. Here the Lord is shown dancing over the dwarf that represents ignorance. Kalamkari is one of the most popular folk paintings and the painter needs to have deep knowledge of lines and pattern.

The beautiful Batik painting of Lord Shiva, the King of Dancers, is given a nice and detail treatment in the traditional Batik style. Nataraja's dance activates dormant vital energy (kundalini shakti) and it becomes an act of creation. It reflects the cosmic motion of life. The lower right hand is in the abhaya mudra position, bestowing peace and protection. The second left hand points downward to the uplifted left foot, signifying release. The right foot, planted on the prostrate body of Apasmara Purusha, the demon of forgetfulness, symbolizes human ignorance of our divine nature. A ring of flames and light arises from and surrounds the dancer, representing the purifying power of the dance. Nataraja's face, meanwhile, remains calm, quietly witnessing the tremendous display of his own energy with just the hint of a smile.
The beautiful painting in light blue shows the Lord with full of life and enthusiasm.
The method of waxing and dewaxing gives rise to a special effect to the painting.
