Description

The beautiful stone figure of the Lord Ganesha is given a refine and detail touch with a deep sense of finesse and refinement. One of the most widely-worshipped deities in Hinduism, Lord Ganesha has the unique distinction that his name is always invoked first before any other Gods in any prayer service. Legend has it that Lord Ganesha received this distinction as a blessing from his parents, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Lord Ganesha is the 'chief' of all of Lord Shiva's ganas (servers). Hence his name, Ganesha. Here his large body is made even bigger with his five heads and 10 arms. The Lord is seated on top of a large lion with exposed teeth and curled tail. The lion has an ample mane of hair around his neck. Four of the Lord's heads are facing in each direction with a smaller head on top of the four heads.

Description
Here the five faces of Hanuman are beautifully designed. During the battle against Lord Rama, Ravana sought help from Mahiravana, the king of patala. In a bid to protect Lord Ram and Lakshman, Hanuman formed a fortress with his tail. Mahiravana came in the guise of Vibeeshana and took Lord Ram and Lakshman to pathala loka. Hanuman followed him to pathala loka. Hanuman realized that to kill Mahiravana, Hanuman had to extinguish five lamps burning in five different directions at the same time. So Hnuman took the Panchamukha form with Hanuman, Hayagriva, Narasimha, Garuda and Varaha faces and extinguished the lamps and killed Mahiravana. Here Hanuman is in a meditative posture and in his 10 hands there are different sets of weapons. According to Hanumath Prakaranam in Sri Vidyarnavatantram, Anjaneya has five faces (Pancha Mukha) and ten weapons.
This volume is a tribute befitting the international renown and vast array of knowledge and activities of Pandit N.R. Description:
Otto Bohtlingk was one of the greatest, its not the greatest Indologists of the nineteenth century. This was Bohtlingk's first publication which appeared in 1839-40 in two volumes. The present edition, combining those two volumes, contains Panini's sutras accompanied by a German translation and notes and the Dhatupatha and Ganapatha along with other useful indices. The Astadhyayi of Panini is even today very hard to follow and was in Bohtlingk's time an extremely challenging text. It was a pioneering work and it ought to have been evaluated in that spirit. As stated by Renou (1969), Bohtlingk's edition of the Astadhyayi was considered the standard edition in Europe. It was responsible for what might be called a 'revolution' in linguistic thinking both in Indo-European linguistics as well as in general linguistics. The investigation of Sanskrit grammar proved to be a stimulus for the study of the history of Indo-European languages. It was realized for the first time in the history of linguistics that a word could be neatly broken into root, stem-forming suffix and desinence. Bohtlingk's was the first standard text and continued to be used until new editions with detailed exegetical explanations came into being.

Description:
This is the first volume of a study of Panini`s work, its antecedents and the traditions of interpretation and analysis to which it gave rise. This revised second edition included the text of Panini`s Astadhyayi with indications of changes that were introduced to this text and a discussion concerning such changes. Subsequent volumes take up in full detail issues of interpretation, method, and theory associated with the Astadhyayi. This first volume is meant to provide a basic for such detailed discussions.

What makes Giddha so popular is that it is not performed according to any cut-and-dried rule. Harmony is the essence in gidda movements that are inclusive of swinging and twisting the body, shaking of the shoulders, bending to a double and clapping. Giddha dance incorporate village life scenes of woman spinning, fetching water from the well and grinding. This is accompanied with appropriate boli and songs.
The dance is derived from the ancient ring dance. One of the girls plays on the drum or 'dholki' while others form a circle. While moving in a circle, the girls raise their hands to the level of their shoulders and clap their hands in unison.Rhythm is generally provided by clapping of hands.
Quick is the movement of the feet in its faster parts that it is difficult for the spectator even to wink till the tempo falls again.

Description:
From the Book
The Paratrisika (or Paratrimsika) is a short Tantra which has been held in the highest esteem by Kashmir Saivism or Trika. After Somananda, Abhinavagupta has written two commentaries on it, a short one (Laghuvrtti) and an extensive one-the present Vivarana which is presented here for the first time in an English translation. The Paratrisika Vivarana is one of the most fascinating but also most difficult texts of the Kashmir Saiva School, and of the mystical philosophical literature of India as a whole. It deals with Ultimate Reality (anuttara or para) and with the methods of realization, centred above all in the theory and practice of the mantra. Abhinavagupta displays here his great exegetical genius and presents a penetrating metaphysics of language, of the word (vak) and its various stages in relation to consciousness. His language reflects in a luminous fashion the mystical experience contained in this text.
The present translation of Abhinavagupt's masterpiece will not only be a milestone in the study of Kashmir Saivism, but it also makes available one of the major mystical texts of the Indian tradition to readers interested in philosophy and spirituality.
