The spectacular marble painting is nicely made with a deep sense of finesse and refinement. One of the most prominent deities in Hinduism, Lord Ganesha has the unique distinction that his name is always invoked first before any other Gods in any prayer service. Legend has it that Lord Ganesha received this distinction as a blessing from his parents, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Lord Ganesha is designated as the chief (-eesha) of all of Lord Shiva's ganas (servers) - hence his name, Ganesha.
Here Lord Ganesha's large body is made even bigger with his 5 heads and 10 arms. The Lord is seated on top of a large lion with exposed teeth and curled tail. The lion has an ample mane of hair around his neck. Four of the Lord's heads are facing in each direction with a smaller head on top of the four heads. In his 10 hands, the God is holding going clockwise from his bottom right hand in the abhaya mudra, a nut, His broken tusk, prayer malas, a hammer, a noose, club, elephant goad and a mango. There is a small bell tied around four of His trunks. Two cobras form his large belt. His two feet are up towards his body in a relaxed seated position of a baby. The lion and Ganesh are separate pieces. Ganesh slides onto the back of the lion to secure the two pieces together.

Description
Here the five faces of Hanuman are beautifully designed. During the battle against Lord Rama, Ravana sought help from Mahiravana, the king of patala. In a bid to protect Lord Ram and Lakshman, Hanuman formed a fortress with his tail. Mahiravana came in the guise of Vibeeshana and took Lord Ram and Lakshman to pathala loka. Hanuman followed him to pathala loka. Hanuman realized that to kill Mahiravana, Hanuman had to extinguish five lamps burning in five different directions at the same time. So Hnuman took the Panchamukha form with Hanuman, Hayagriva, Narasimha, Garuda and Varaha faces and extinguished the lamps and killed Mahiravana. Here Hanuman is in a meditative posture and in his 10 hands there are different sets of weapons. According to Hanumath Prakaranam in Sri Vidyarnavatantram, Anjaneya has five faces (Pancha Mukha) and ten weapons.
This volume is a tribute befitting the international renown and vast array of knowledge and activities of Pandit N.R. Bhatt who has silently practised his dharma of Pansita for several decades, through his vyutpatti and mastery of Sanskrit, through his labours in many sastras: vyakarana, Ayurveda, dharma, samgita, tantra etc., and by giving his knowledge, privately to a number of Indian and European students, generally to the world of research through his pioneering critical editions of Saivagamas and other works. This volume includes forty-two articles by eminent Indian and foreign authors on a rich variety of topics of Indological interest. It is divided into six sections. The first two articles comprising the first section are biographical in nature shedding light on the life scholarly activities of Pandit N.R. Bhatt. The other sections are: Vedic Studies, classical Sanskrit, Religion and Philosophy; Agama and Tantra; and Epigraphy and Archaeology. The one on Religion and Philosophy is the largest, offering illuminating comments on some important aspects of Vedanta, Lokayata, Kashmir Saivism, Nyaya, Navya Nyaya and Jainism.

Description:
Otto Bohtlingk was one of the greatest, its not the greatest Indologists of the nineteenth century. This was Bohtlingk's first publication which appeared in 1839-40 in two volumes. The present edition, combining those two volumes, contains Panini's sutras accompanied by a German translation and notes and the Dhatupatha and Ganapatha along with other useful indices. The Astadhyayi of Panini is even today very hard to follow and was in Bohtlingk's time an extremely challenging text. It was a pioneering work and it ought to have been evaluated in that spirit. As stated by Renou (1969), Bohtlingk's edition of the Astadhyayi was considered the standard edition in Europe. It was responsible for what might be called a 'revolution' in linguistic thinking both in Indo-European linguistics as well as in general linguistics. The investigation of Sanskrit grammar proved to be a stimulus for the study of the history of Indo-European languages. It was realized for the first time in the history of linguistics that a word could be neatly broken into root, stem-forming suffix and desinence. Bohtlingk's was the first standard text and continued to be used until new editions with detailed exegetical explanations came into being.
