Jack the Ripper is terrorizing the streets of London's East End. The newspapers are having a field day and Commissioner Sir Charles Warren is furious that no arrests have been made. With pressure for an arrest mounting, a reluctant Inspector Abberline of Scotland Yard calls on Sherlock Holmes for assistance. A meticulously researched novel that dares to cross genres.

A symbol of love and affection, the beautiful Kalamkari painting of Lord Vishnu and his consort Lakshmi is being given a refine and detail treatment. The enhancing effulgence of colours and the characters that emerge on cotton fabric, help create a resplendent spread. Kalamkari painting is unique in its use of colour as a medium to depict mythological characters. Kalamkari has a glorious history. The popularity of this exquisite form of art crossed the shores of the country during the 17th and 18th centuries. Kalahasti and Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh, the nerve centres of this art continue to be beehives of Kalamkari activity. Kalamkari colours are made from vegetable dyes and no chemicals are used whatsoever. In addition to themes from the epics, Kalamkari leitmotifs comprise different forms of the lotus flower, the carwheel, parrots, an interlacing pattern of leaves and flowers.

In this small brass figure, Lord Vishnu is taking rest in the coil created by Shesh or Sheshnaag or Adishesha, the king of all Nāgas. According to the Bhagavata Purana, Shesh is an avatar of the Supreme God known as Narayana. Shesha is generally depicted with a massive form that floats coiled in space, or on the ocean of milk, to form the bed on which Vishnu lies. In the Bhagavadgita of Chapter 10, verse 29, Sri Krishna while describing 75 of his common manifestations, declares ‘of the nagas, I am Ananta’. According to Mahabharata, Shesha was born to sage Kaśyapa and his wife Kadru. Kadru gave birth to a thousand snakes, of which Shesha was the eldest. After Shesha, were born Vāsuki, Airāvata and Takṣaka. As a lot of Sesa brothers were cruel in nature, Sesa left his mother and kin, and resorted to austere penance. His penances were so severe that his flesh, skin and muscles dried up and merged with his frame. He was able to please Brahmā. Following this, Shesha was able to keep his mind under control so that he could continue to perform ascetic penances. Brahma asked Sesa to go beneath the unstable earth and stabilize it. Sesa agreed and went to the netherworld, and stabilized her with his hood. He is known to support her even today, thus making Pātala his perennial residence.

An important component of Hindu mythology, Sheshnag is the reclining couch and roofing canopy for Vishnu, Sheshnag is being worshipped by all and venerated by the Hindus all over the country. He is considered the king of the serpent race and the ruler of the infernal regions. Lord Vishnu sleeps on the bed of its coils during the intervals of creation. Sheshnag is also represented as one supporting the world on its hood.

The artist has crafted the product with a sense of perfection and flawless design. The bracelets are dazzling like blooming flowers. Zirconia is a synthesized material and is hard, optically flawless and usually colorless, though may be made in a variety of different colors. Because of its low cost, high durability, and close visual likeness to diamond, synthetic zirconia has remained one of the most important competitor for diamonds.

The beautiful Batik painting depicts the shining moon along with some bright stars. The moon is given a sparkling treatment in a human figure. Batik literally means 'wax writing'. Indians knew the technique of Batik some 2000 years back. A batik artist needs to have a good sense of colors and patterns. Though the motifs used in batik are simple, knowledge of color gradations and tack to remove wax finely are required.
Applying the wax resist and systematic cracking are the key to a beautiful art piece. The characteristic batik effect is created by cracking of wax on the lighter hues and seeping in of the darker colors through them.

The tribal lady is holding her baby on her lap and she is feeding her mother’s breast. The compelling figure reveals the sense of accomplishment on the face of the mother for having the baby.
