Lord Ganesha is one of the most revered gods in Hinduism and he is considered the Lord of wisdom. The beautiful figure of the Lord has been nicely carved out of red stone by the sculptor with some sparkling designs on it. The figure is nicely decorated and he is holding the Shiva Linga. Lord Ganesha is a great devotee of Shiva and the sculptor has fittingly depicted the great sense of devotion in the pink soft stone from Orissa. The entire figure contains some intricate carvings and the Lord’s tender touch on the Shiva Linga is a reflective of his devotion towards the Master, Lord Shiva.

      Description

In this spectacular brass figure, Lord Shiva, one of the Trinity Gods in Hinduism, and his son Lord Ganesha are nicely carved out with a deep sense of finesse and artistry. Here the Lord Shiva is portrayed as Gangadhara nd his son is also shown seating beside Shiva. The father-son deo deities are worshipped by the Hindus with lot of esteem and whereas the Lord Shiva is the God responsible for the destruction of evil forces, Lord Ganesha is the Remover of Obstacles. He is also the Lord of Learning and Wisdom. Hindus believe that the river Ganga has its source in Shiva and flows from his matted hair, that is why it is symbolically represented by depicting Ganga as a jet of water sprinkling out of the head of the Lord and falling on the ground. The Lord allowed an outlet to the great river to traverse the earth and bring purifying water to human being. Hence, Lord Shiva is often referred to as Gangadhara or "Bearer of the river Ganga"

          DESCRIPTION:

Throbbing with non-stop excitement, Shiva in the City of Nectar sweeps across Heaven, Earth and the Underworld, narrating the exploits of the mysterious and powerful blue-throated god. One after another, the tales unfold the follies of ancient devas, asuras, sages, men and mythical beasts. And through them all, Shiva blithely takes on the guise of beggar, saint, monarch, merchant, fisherman, hunter, warrior and woodcutter; walking through the three worlds to slay rampaging demons, perform his Dance of Bliss and embrace good and bad alike.
Shiva is portrayed in all his multi-faceted mystique – the tender lover who woos and weds Goddess Meenakshi; the eternal Guru who dispenses wisdom; the fierce avenger whose third eye flashes fire; the generous benefactor who showers blessings on his devotees; and, above all, the gentle prankster who embodies the essence of Vedic faith.

The beautiful figure of Lord Shiva, one of the Trinity, the other two being Lord Vishnu and Brahma, is crafted out of the traditional dhokra technique using the lost wax method. The figure is heavily ornate and the refine carvings on it plus the ornaments make the Lord a paradigm of beauty and sculptural excellence. Lost wax is a laborious technique.First, a model is sculpted of clay and dried in the sun; it is then covered with beeswax and more clay, forming a mold. The piece is cast, cleaned and again dried in the sun. Finally, it is heated in the ground for five days and polished.

Shiva Lingam - Symbol Of Omnipresent

The sensible use of colour gradations has made the painting of Shiva Lingam a very attractive one. Batik is the art of creating images on the cotton cloth using wax resist method. A batik artist needs to have a good sense of colors and patterns. Though the motifs used in batik are simple, knowledge of color gradations and tack to remove wax finely are required. Applying the wax resist and systematic cracking are the key to a beautiful art piece. The method of dewaxing is the key to the splendour and the brightness of the painting.

These Shiv Lingam are beautifully natural stone. Shiv lingam is held in reverence in temples all over the sub-continent. It is a symbol of that which is invisible yet omnipresent. It is therefore a visible symbol of the Ultimate Reality which is present in us. The Shivalingam denotes the primeval energy of the Creator. It is believed that at the end of all creation, during the great deluge, all of the different aspects of God find a resting place in the Lingam; Bhrama is absorbed into the right, Vishnu to the left and Gayatri into the heart. The Shivalingam is also a representation of the infinite Cosmic Column of fire, whose origins, Vishnu and Bhrama were unable to trace.
