The beautiful brass figure of Sai Baba, a renowned Indian saint is given a refine and spectacular treatment. He is in a sitting posture and a deep sense of gravity and accomplishment is manifest in the figure.Sai Baba of Shirdi or Shirdi Sai Baba was born in 1838 and he breathed his last on October 15, 1918. He was an Indian guru, yogi and fakir, who is regarded by his Hindu and Muslim followers as a saint. In his life and teachings he tried to embrace and reconcile Hinduism and Islam: Sai Baba lived in a mosque, was buried in a Hindu temple, practised Hindu and Muslim rituals, and taught using words and figures that drew from both traditions. One of his well known epigrams says of God: "Allah Malik" ("God is Master").Sai Baba taught a moral code of love, forgiveness, helping others, charity, contentment, inner peace, devotion to God and guru. His philosophy was Advaita Vedanta and his teachings consisted of elements both of this school as well as of bhakti and Islam.Sai Baba is also one of the most popular of Indian saints (worshipped mainly in Maharashtra, southern Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh) and revered by several notable Hindu, Sufi and Zoroastrian religious leaders.

The six headed Subramaniyan Swami is decorated in a traditional Kalamkari style, one of the most popular style of painting in South India. We have three other versions of the same work available in the market but, (1) we do not find verse 76 (of ahnika one) in the precept pub. from ChowkhambaVidyabhawan,Varanasi 2002, (2) we don’t find verse 58 (of ahnika one) in the precept pub. by Acharya Krisnanand Sagar, Gujarat, 1984 and (3) this is one complete verse:
vishvakrititvaccidcittadvaicitryavabhasakah.
tato ’sya bahurupatvamuktam dikshottaradike.
But in the precept pub. from Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, 1992, 2000, this verse is presented in two verses — verse 61 and 62, with two doubtful verses, verse 56 and verse 223.
