He is in a sitting posture and a deep sense of gravity and accomplishment is manifest in the figure.Sai Baba of Shirdi or Shirdi Sai Baba was born in 1838 and he breathed his last on October 15, 1918. He was an Indian guru, yogi and fakir, who is regarded by his Hindu and Muslim followers as a saint. In his life and teachings he tried to embrace and reconcile Hinduism and Islam: Sai Baba lived in a mosque, was buried in a Hindu temple, practised Hindu and Muslim rituals, and taught using words and figures that drew from both traditions. One of his well known epigrams says of God: "Allah Malik" ("God is Master").Sai Baba taught a moral code of love, forgiveness, helping others, charity, contentment, inner peace, devotion to God and guru. His philosophy was Advaita Vedanta and his teachings consisted of elements both of this school as well as of bhakti and Islam.Sai Baba is also one of the most popular of Indian saints (worshipped mainly in Maharashtra, southern Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh) and revered by several notable Hindu, Sufi and Zoroastrian religious leaders.

The six headed Subramaniyan Swami is decorated in a traditional Kalamkari style, one of the most popular style of painting in South India. He is shown sitting on a peacock with one hand blessing the devotees.His ten hands are holdng different objects. A rare smile is visible on his face. Kalamkari is an exquisite ancient craft of painted and printed fabrics. It derives its name from Kalam meaning Pen, and Kari meaning work, literally Pen-work. It is hand painting as well as block printing with vegetable dyes. Kalamkari art has evolved through trial and error over the last 3000 years.
