                              Description

The beautiful black and white painting of the Mughal monarch reveals a refinement of treatment, minute details of the figure and smart use of line. The Mughal rulers especially Shahjahan were great patrons of art and paintings and under their patronage flourished a rich and vibrant painting style that blended art style both from the East and the contemporary West.

                              Maharani
H.H. is the spoilt, selfish, beautiful widow of the Maharaja of Mastipur. She lives with her dogs and her caretaker, Hans, in an enormous old house in Mussoorie, taking lovers and discarding them, drinking too much and fending off her reckless sons who are waiting hungrily for their inheritance. The seasons come and go, hotels burn down, cinemas shut shop and people leave the hill station never to return, but H.H. remains constant and indomitable. Observing her antics, often with disapproval, is her old friend Ruskin, who can never quite cut himself off from her. Melancholic, wry and full of charm, Maharani is a delightful novella about love, death and friendship.

                                                      Description

What is Maharashtra? What has been the contribution of various communities and castes in making the Maharashtra of today? What makes Mumbai a centre of political power? Why is it that rampage can be unleashed if the city is called by its old name, Bombay? Who is a Maharashtrian? Sujata Anandan delves into history to unravel multiple layers that explain the complexity of Maharashtrian politics and its impact on the Indian State.

                                                      Maharishi Patanjali - Stone Statuette

The spectacular stone figure of Maharshi Patanjali is given a refine and detail treatment with some nice carvings on it. Maharshi Patañjali is the compiler of the Yoga Sutras, a major work containing aphorisms on the philosophical aspects of mind and consciousness, and also the author of a major commentary on Panini's Ashtadhyayi.
In recent decades the Yoga Sutra has become quite popular worldwide for the precepts regarding practice of Raja Yoga and its philosophical basis.
Patañjali is known to be an incarnation of Ādi S'esha who is the first ego-expansion of Vishnu, Sankarshana. Sankarshana, the manifestation of Vishnu His primeval energies and opulence is part of the so-called catur vyūha, the fourfold manifestation of Vishnu. Thus may Patañjali be considered as the one incarnation of God defending the ego of Yoga.
Patanjali was born to Atri (First of the Saptha Rishis) and his wife Anusuya in South kailash, now called as Thirumoorthy hills which is located 100km away from Coimbatore, India.
The great sage is shown with folded hands. A great sense of accomplishment and gracefulness is manifest in the beautiful figure.

                                                        Description

The artist has chiseled Patañjali, the compiler of the Yoga Sutra, a major work containing aphorisms on the practical and philosophical wisdom regarding practice of Raja Yoga, out of metal brass with masterly elegance. Patañjali is the reputed author of the Yoga Sutra, as well as commentary on Panini's Sanskrit grammar (Astyadhyayi). There are also many ayurvedic texts attributed to him. Desirous of teaching yoga to the world, he is said to have fallen (pat) from heaven into the open palms (anjali) of a woman, hence the name Patanjali. The Yoga Sutra is a treatise on Raja Yoga, built on the Samkhya School and the Hindu scripture of the Bhagavad Gita. Yoga is also found in the Puranas, Vedas and Upanishads. Still, this work is certainly a major work among the great Hindu scriptures and certainly is the basis of Raja Yoga. Patañjali's Yoga is one of the six schools of Hindu Philosophy. They give us the earliest reference to the popular term Ashtanga Yoga that translates literally as the eight limbs of yoga. They are yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi.

Maharishi Patanjali was known to be an avatar of Adi Shesha, cosmic serpent upon which Vishnu rests. He is known to be the father of Yoga as he compiled Yoga Sutras. It is believed that the yoga sutras were written around 200 BC. He discovered Ashtanga Yoga. He has also written Ayurveda, an ancient medicine science of India. He is also the writer of a commentary on Mahabhasya, Panini’s Ashtadyayi.

He married her against everyone's wish. But within a few months after marriage she got white spots on her body, leukoderma. Everyone got scared of her ugliness and they threw her out of the house, they sent her back to her parent's house, as if she was a piece of garbage. She built up her own universe, but he was cursing himself. What if he had suffered with the same disease? Would she have discarded him like a piece of garbage? What can be the end of such stories? Sudha Murthy has given an insight to a simple woman from a traditional family. The woman is shattered with the disease but yet she comes out of it. She shapes her life well. New Reformatted Edition, Mahatma Gandhi's life was an experiment with truth. Put your principles to real practice, this was his message to the contemporary world. To him God was Truth and Truth was God. Here are essays and reflections on Mahatma Gandhi, one of the outstanding personalities not only of our time but of all times. Gandhiji was the greatest moral force in Indian history. For the accomplishment of liberty, justice and peace, he rediscovered the old techniques of Ahimsa and Satyagraha. He revealed to the masses a power not of rifles and machine guns, but the power innate in each individual, a power which this war-haunted world can exploit fully in making wars impossible. This book contains tribute to the Father of the Nation, from prominent thinkers like C. Fandrews, Aldous Huxley, Lin Yutang, A. Coomaraswamy, Sri Aurobindo and many others. Some of Gandhiji's most distinct and famous speeches are brought together in an appendix in this volume.

                                                                            $36

Mahatma Gandhi - The Early Days
“I never saw Gandhi…I do not know his language. I never set foot in his country and yet, I feel the some sorrow as if I had lost someone near and dear,” wrote the Frenchman leon blum, when he heard of Mahatma Gandhi’’s death. Million felt the same, not only in India but the world over, for Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) was the only leader in modern history who strove to rule not en, but the hearts of men.

Mahatma Gandhi needs no introduction, nor does the magnanimity of his personality. With the principles of ahimsa (non-violence) and satya (truth), the cornerstones of his ideals, ingrained in his consciousness from childhood Gandhiji’s life is a lesson in quiet determination, unfaltering faith and profound values.

In the legendary words of Mahatma Gandhi himself:
“…for me the road to salvation lies through incessant toil in the service of my country and therefore of humanity.”
“…I recognize no God except the God that is to be found in the hearts of the dumb millions.”
“…how con I talk of God to the millions who have to go without two meals a day? To them, God can only appear as bread and butter.”
“…I may live without air and water, but not without Him. You may pluck out my eyes, but that will not kill mi. you may chop off my nose, but that will not kill me. But blast my belief in God and I am dead.”
                                                                            $6
