In Hindu mythology Goddess Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth. She has four arms that represent four directions symbolizing omnipresence of God. Red dress signifies prosperity. Lotus seat shows that one should earn enough wealth but never get infatuated with it. Four hands advice to work for dharma, Kama, artha and moskha. Front hands for physical work and back ones for religious activities. Two elephants are for name and fame and convey the idea of sharing the same with others.
