Introduction

By the mercy of the most compassionate Sri Gaurasundara this book, Sri Mathura-mahatmya, compiled by Srila Rupa Gosvami, who was one of the associates of Sri Guranga, has been published. It was the utmost desire of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Prabhupada that at least the literatures written by the Gosvamis be printed. Lord Gaurasundara, the deliverer of the fallen souls in this age of Kali, has counted the limb 'residing at Mathura' as one of the five principle limbs of devotional service. Therefore the principle fruit of visiting, circumambulating, and residing at Mathura is the fifth objective of life called love of God. But keeping different qualifications of the devotees in the mind, Srila Rupa Gosvamipada has included various processes of devotional service such as devotional service mixed with karma or jnana by quoting statements from various scriptures. In this way he established that Mathura vanquishes all one's sinful reactions and awards piety and liberation. According to the statement of a Mahajana, citta drdha hana lage mahima-jnana haita- "One's mind becomes fixed by understanding the glories of the Lord," the neophyte devotees' faith will certainly be strengthened by studying this Mathura-mahatmya. There is no doubt that this book compiled by Srila Rupa Gosvamipada under the instruction of Lord Sri Gaurasundara will be highly regarded by the intelligent readers. A life sketch of Srila Rupa Gosvamipada has also been included in this book. Our only goal of life is to receive the dust from the feet of the Vaisnavas who strictly follow the path exhibited by Sri Rupa. If the merciful readers relish this book and shower blessings on us, then our attempt will be successful.

Sri Matrkacakra Vivekah
Sri Matrkacakra Vivekah
When the great Siddha Sri Svatnatrandanatha was ordered by Lord Siva to correlate Matrkas (Sanskrta alphabet) with Yoga marga, he started doing so on the basis of Mahesvara sutras. Being failed to do, so he went into a cave of hill top called as Kankacala and started his penance by the result of which a Sri Yantra incarnated from sky
and Siddha was able to understand this secret. The Siddha seer found that Matrkas are classified in four states called Jagrata or Awaken state; Svapna or Dream state, Susupti or Deep sleep state and Turiya or Fourth state and above all is Turiyatita state which is house of all. He explored that they all are related to each other in a way that they reveal the secret of evolution and liberation of living being and secrets of Lord Siva and Sri Lalita Tripurasundari. He explained all this by the help of Sutras.

Being divided into five chapters, first four chapters of this book keep saying that Lord Siva's power is frigid in nature however as he writes fifth chapter, he reveals a secret which is no less than a great suspense of this entire work.

With great command on subject, great seer had compile the entire mystic relation of Sri Lalita Tripura Sundari, Sri Yantra, Matrka, Lord Siva, Sakti, living being, four states with fifth one, prameya, pramana and pramata and this world in such a beautiful manner that it looks more a Tantrika symphony than a Tantrika book.

The commentary of this work is lucid and is unique in na

DESCRIPTION:
According to historically reliable literary accounts, medieval India witnessed a massive religiousrenaissance centered largely on the popular mysticism of the congregational chanting and singing of the names of God. This litany often took the form of the Maha-mantra: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. Thegreat sixteenth-century saint Sri Caitanya, Himself worshiped as an incarnation of Lord Krishna, first turned this public congregational chanting (sankirtana) into a mass movement in Bengal and then spread it to other parts of India. Not meant to remain confined even to India, Caitanya style sankirtana has in recent decades appeared on Western shores, where members of the Hare Krishna movement, modern followers of Sri Caitanya, publicly chant in the streets of major cities. Why the profound effect on human consciousness? How is this process of Mantra-meditation performed? What are its effects? Why its universal appeal, which appears to transcend all historical and cultural bounds? To gain a deep understanding of these matters, we will need to explore the theological and mystical literature of the Vaishnava tradition. Sri Namamrita or the nectar of the Holy Name dwells deep into the theology and practice of the Holy Name and offers inspiration to sincere seekers to take up the practice of mantra meditation and experience transcendental ecstacy!

This is volume 1 of a 2-volume set. For volume 2 see: 8171203868

This book is the original edition of Ramakrishna the Great Master as translated by Swami Jagadananda and published in 1952. It is the most comprehensive life of Sri Ramakrishna available in English.
Comment of a very senior swami on the history of the original English translation: "I am told from a very reliable source that when Swami Jagadanandaji Maharaj was asked to translate the Sri Sri Ramakrishna Lila Prasanga into English, he studied very well, and informed the General Secretary that he has something very important to discuss with them. His problem was, if he wants to stick honestly and sincerely to the ideas represented by Saradanandaji, a strict correct English translation, the English reading would be halting, and very dry and prosaic. And, if he wants to make it readable and pleasant, he would have to compromise some of the subtle ideas. He needed guidance from the headquarters what he should do. The president of the Order, Swami Virajanandaji expressed his view to try to make it as easily readable as possible without compromising the ideas mentioned in the original book."

For the convenience of readers, this seventh edition has been reprinted in 2 volumes. A brief content page has been added to the second volume, but the text of the sixth edition has been retained without change.

              Description:

Tantraloka is a magnum opus in the horizon of Indian philosophy. This great work, created by the well-known polymath Acharya Abhinavaguptapada (tenth century ce), is a compendium of all Tantrika rituals and essence drawn from the light of all pre-treatises on Indian Tantra till the time of the creator. This text consists of thirty- seven chapters. It reflects on Tantra from the background of Kashmir Shaivism which is known as the monistic philosophy of Pratyabhijna. Abhinavagupta explains here at length about the ways to worship the Supreme Consciousness in order to attain this state of Absolute ecstasy and liberation in one single life of mankind. This work is before the English-speaking world for the first time in a hermeneutic way. With a great lineage of Pandit Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar and Pandit Suniti Kumar Chaturjya, Gautam Chatterjee is initiated by Pt. Gopinath Kaviraj, and has been a close associate of Thakur Jaidev Singh and Pt. Vraj Vallabh Dwivedi in the discipline of Kashmir Shaivism. Graduated in Mathematics, Gautam is now the founder president of Abhinavagupta Academy, a centre for consciousness studies in Banaras, developed a lucid way to yoga practices to enrich the richest Tantric tradition of monistic Shaivism in Kashi, spiritually and ontologically, and also metaphysically. Author of his oft-quoted book White Shadow of Consciousness, Shree Gautam teaches in Banaras Hindu University.

Lord Balaji and His Holy Abode of Tirupathi LOCATED ON THE VERDANT FOOTHILLS of the Eastern Ghats, Tirupathi is both a cultural hub and a major pilgrimage site. Nestled in its Tirumala Hills is the famous temple of Sri Venkateswara Swami, fondly called Balaji by his worshippers. Devotees believe that Sri Venkateswara, a form of Lord Vishnu, answers the prayers of all those who seek his help and performs the greatest miracles in granting their wishes. As a result, the temple draws millions of pilgrims to its doors and is the busiest pilgrimage centre in the world. Sri Venkateswara: Lord Balaji and His Holy Abode of Tirupathi is a compilation of numerous folk legends on the benevolent Balaji. The book also offers an insight into the 1000-year-old customs and traditions of the sacred Tirumala Hills. Written as a mark of gratitude to the Lord, the book details all the rituals, sevas and festivals associated with him. Here also are captured glimpses of the many teerthas, lakes and waterfalls of Tirumala. Along with this is a wealth of information for visitors and devotees alike on the various educational, medical and developmental activities of Tirupathi.

Sri Vidhanarva Tantra (Set Of 5 Vols.)
Language: hindi Pages: 2209 Introduction Ever since the dawn of Hindu civilisation and culture the Hindu mind has been busy in making assiduous efforts to find various means for the obtainment of Sreyah and Preyah-v-spiritual greatness and worldly prosperity. The former, it has come to the conclusion, is not achievable unless the unification is reached with the highest Reality as forming the causeless cause of the universe. For this, approach is advised of the two possible aspects of the highest Reality-un-qualified and qualified. The unqualified is difficult of access to the man as is declared in the Bhagavadgita. The qualified has reference either to the male conception or the female. It is therefore that the highest Reality is described in the sacred texts whether Agamas or Tantras as a personal God or Goddess always engaged in creating, sustaining and dissolving the world, both admitting their affiliation more or less with the Vedas. Agamas refer to the highest Reality through the male aspect calling it by Siva and the Tantras through both, male and female. Those of the latter which stress the importance of the female aspect are designated by the term Sakta Tantras. From their standpoint the highest Reality is known by the name of Mahatripurasundari. She is recognised and contemplated upon as constituting the quintessence of the female Trinity corresponding to that of Brahma, Visnu and Rudra, i.e., the male Trinity. In this way the female Trinity is known popularly by Mahasarasvati, Mahalaksmi and Mahakali. Worship of these two aspects seems to have been simultaneously going on from the earliest times. The episode of the appearance of Uma to Indra and other Vedic Gods, appearing as it does in the Kenopanisad, supports this view. The first founder of the Recognitive School Sornananda of the ninth century A.D. tells in clear terms that the highest Reality was being worshipped a

                  Srikanta
Srikanta, the narrator of Saratchandra's epic novel, is an aimless drifter, a passive spectator to his own life, a weak and impressionable soul who cannot survive without the support of an individual stronger than himself. As a child he idealizes the chaste and selfless Annada Didi. Arriving in Burma as a young man looking for new experiences, Srikanta meets the rebellious Abhaya who rejects her violent, bigamous husband to live openly with her lover. Srikanta then experiments with becoming a sanyasi, is bewitched for a while by the Vaishnavi, Kamal Lata, and wanders on till his directionless existence finally finds a focus- when he resigns himself to life with the notorious but stunning Pyari Baiji, breaking free of the social values he grew up with. Through his dynamic and arresting characters, Saratchandra brings alive nineteenth-century Bengal, rife with prejudices and ready for change.
