Saptavidha-anupapatti represents a live-debate in the traditions of Vedanta initiated by Ramanujacarya. The central issue of this debate is to examine whether maya-avidya, postulated by Advaita-vedant, is philosophically sustainable, logically viable, and experientially reliable. While Sankara builds up the superstructure of Advaita on the basis of this concept, Ramanuja vociferously reacts to its philosophical ingenuity. This dispute between the Advaita and Visistadvaita schools with seven objections, which forms the manor theme of this book, has been going on for more than a millennium and is alive even today among Vedanta scholars. The volume contains, besides historical as well as philosophical explorations of the concept of maya-avidya, the arguments and counter arguments, formulation and counter-formulation to accommodate and reject the corresponding philosophical predilections of both the above schools by some of the preeminent philosophical minds of Indian philosophy of our times.

The purpose of the book is to introduce the reader to the basics of Jyotish, starting with its origin. All essential information required for interpreting a chart is detailed, with a comprehensive look at each of the rasis, grahas and the 12 different bhavas. An overview is provided of many of the important yogas to look for in a chart and also emphasizes why a particular yoga gives its results in order to teach students how to interpret combinations themselves. After setting out the basics of a chart interpretation, “Vedic Astrology Demystified” details how to predict using Vimshottari Dasha system and how to incorporate transits into a prediction. The book finishes with a practical review of various charts and the timing of events using the knowledge learnt.“Vedic Astrology Demystified” is written in a friendly style, so that the reader feels he is having a personal lesson from the author. As there is much conjecture on various topics within Jyotish, the author has incorporated into the book his own practices when interpreting and predicting from a chart.

Sushrut Samhita is the epic of Shalya Chikitsa. Shalya is the study of imbalance of four humors Vat, Pitta, Kaph and Rakta or disease produced by them, identification of disease or the method of curing the disease.

According to Sushrut an uninterrupted circulation of the living factor Rasa (Chinese call it Qi) is responsible for a good health and any obstacle in the circulation results in disease. The disease appears in its true form in that channel where there is an obstruction. The disease is cured if the path or speed of circulation of Rasa is revived. This Rasa is circulated in the Dhamanis. The four types of siras responsible for the circulation of Vat, Pitta, Kaph and Rakta are almost situated at the Marmas. Stimulation of these Marmas revives the circulation of Rasa in the Dhamanis.

The book is an attempt to present the Sushrut Samhita in its right perspective. It presents the correct meaning of Sira, Dhamani and Marmas so far have been misunderstood as vein, Artery and tissues to be saved during surgery. Sira and Dhamani are not vein or artery instead they are the channels for the circulation of Ras.It revives Sushrut Shalya Chikitsa which is lost to give the right direction to students and researchers of Ayurveda.

HIS HOLINESS JAGADGURU SANKARACARYA SRI BHARATI KRSNA TIRTHAJI MAHARAJA (March 1884-February 1960)" was named as Venkatraman in his early days. As he was extraordinarily proficient in Sanskrit and oratory, he was awarded the title of 'Saraswati' by the Madras Sanskrit Association inJuly 1899.

After winning the highest place in the B.A. Examination, he appeared at the M.A. Examination of the American College of Sciences, Roch- ester, New York from Bombay Centre in 1904 and passed in six subjects (Sanskrit, Philosophy, English, Mathe- matics, History and Science) simultan- eously securing the highest honours in all. In 1908, he proceeded to the Sringeri Matha in Mysore to learn at the feet of the renowned late Jagadguru Shankaracharya Maharaj Sri Satcidanandaji. After several years of the most advanced studies, the deepest meditation, and the highest spiritual attainment; he was initiated into the holy order of Sannyasa at Banaras (Varanasi) by Shankaracharya Sri Trivikram Tirthaji of Sharadapeeth on July 4th 1919 and on this occasion he was given the new name, Swami Bharati Krsna Tirthaji. Later, in 1925 Jagadguru Sankaracarya Sri Madhu- sudan Tirthaji of Govardhan Matha, Puri, virtually forced him to accept the Govardhan Math's Gaddi. In this capacity he continued to. disseminate the holy spiritual teachings of Sanatana Dharma in their pristine purity all over the world for the rest of his life.

                                                                          About the Book

Vedic Mathematics or 'Sixteen Simple Mathematical Formulae from the Vedas' was written by His Holiness Jagadguru Sankaracarya Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji Maharaja of Covar- dhana Matha, Puri. It deals mainly with various Vedic mathematical formulae and their applications for carrying out tedious and cumbersome arithmetical operations, and to a very large extent, executing them men- tally. In this field of mental arith- metical operations, the works of the famous mathematicians Trachten- berg and Lester Meyers (High Speed Maths) are elementary compared to that of Jagadguruji.

Some people may find it difficult, at first reading to understand the arithmetical operations although they have been explained very lucidly by Jagadguruji. It is not because the explanations are lacking in any manner but because the methods are totally unconventional. Some people are so deeply rooted in the conven- tional methods that they, probably subconsciously, reject to see the logic in unconventional methods.

                                                                          $25
                                                                          Vedic Mathematics for All Ages
                                                                          Vedic Mathematics for All Ages
The author has attempted to codify several useful results embedded in the ancient lore, in a form which is easily accessible to the children learning mathematics. Many of the chapters deal with computations using simple techniques which will shorten the effort involved in the conventional approach. The price one pays, of course, is that one has to learn the tricks, memorize them and use the appropriate one for each problem. While one might think that this takes away the generality of the modern approach, it certainly has the element of charm and intrigue which children [and grown-ups!] will find entertaining. Even working out why many of these approaches lead to correct results is a valuable exercise by itself.

Contents: Foreword, Preface, Feedback, Introduction, 1. This book teaches you to calculate fast and in straight steps. The graphics and colours used in the book make it user friendly and easy t understand. The fun filled activities in each chapter make the process of learning Vedic Mathematics enjoyable for all ages. This book of Vedic Mathematics will help you to become confident and skilled mathematicians without calculators.

I found the book to be extremely readable. The explanations are very lucid and I found the use of three colours of the explanations to be very helpful and innovative. The progression of chapters is also very well thought out. I would definitely recommend it to students of Vedic Mathematics.

Vedic Mathematics was reconstructed from ancient Vedic texts early last century by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). It is a complete system of mathematics which has many surprising properties and applies at all levels and areas of mathematics, pure and applied. It has remarkable coherence and simplicity that make it easy to do and easy to understand. Through its amazingly easy methods complex problems can often be solved in one line. The system is based on sixteen world-formulae (sutras) that relate to tha way in which we use our mind. The benefits of using Vedic Mathematics include more enjoyment of maths, increased flexibility, creativity and confidence, improved memory, greater mental agility and so on. This Elementary Manual is the second of three self-contained Manuals designed for teachers who with to teach the Vedic system, either to class or to other adults/teachers. It is also suitable for anyone who would like to teach themselves the Vedic methods.

In this book, the author has fully explained all about astrology in Ancient Indian and has given a description of the various constellations of stars - on which the Science of Astrology is based. The volume is divided into eight chapters.

The first chapter gives an account of the antiquity of the Science of Astrology. Chapters II, III and IV give an account of the movements of the Sun, the Moon and the Earth. Chapter V gives a number of tables pertaining to dates, latitudes and longitudes, etc. From these tables, the necessary calculations are to be made in framing the horoscopes. Chapter VI and VII deal with special contribution from the author, where the author has examined numerous horoscopes to prove the authenticity of his predictions regarding death and marriage. Chapter VIII is an appendix giving further information to help the calculations.

The present volume on Vedic Physics by Keshav Dev Verma is indeed a unique attempt to interpret the ancient Indian literature by defining various symbols, concepts and the terminology occurring in Vedic hymns and other texts. While accepting Maharsi Dayananda's view that Vedas are the repository of all true sciences, the author does examine this statement with a view to test it on the hard rock of truth.

Shri Verma has selected Sankhya-Patanjala system that explains the physical world (Universe) on the basis of Cosmic evolution; the Vaisesika-Nyaya expounds the methodology and elaborates the concepts of physics, chemistry and mechanics. Shri Verma has very systematically tried to interpret the Sankhya aphorisms and concludes that the ultimate ground to which the manifested world can be traced is Prakrti having three attributes-Sattva (existence), energy at rest or Rajas (energy that which is efficient in a phenomenon and is characterised by a tendency to move and overcome any resistance) and Tamas (mass or inertia) which resists the Rajas to do work and also resists Sattva from conscious manifestation.
