A reality-based romance novel. Helen Kay Dimon puts her red-hot pen to paper to tell the sizzling true love story of Victoria Sinclair, lead anchor of Naked News Network: her true identity, the drama behind the camera and the whimsical courtship that inspired it all. When Canada's Naked News lead anchor chose the stage name "Victoria Sinclair" to debut her risqué take on global headlines, little did she know that millions of viewers would soon tune in to watch her artfully disrobe in front of the camera. But behind every alter ego is a real person, often hidden from public view and there's much that "Victoria" is hiding. Raised in a family of artists and intellectuals, the young Victoria-to-be excelled in school -as well as in the tutorials of her exotic grandmother. But her real education comes in high school, compliments of a handsome, talented scrapper named Paul who gives her his heart, body and soul -only to be devastated when he loses the girl he's crazy about to dreams and ambitions too big for their small Canadian town. Those ambitions are realized in Toronto as she climbs the corporate ladder -and falls under the seductive spell of an older, worldly man who orchestrates her transformation from a shy brainiac in a business suit into a sensual siren named Victoria Sinclair. With a come-hither voice and seemingly nothing to lose but her clothes, Victoria isn't as easy in her own skin as a growing legion of fans believe her to be. Victoria's got a secret -actually a few. So when a twist of fate brings Paul back into her life, will he even recognize the girl she once was? Will she?

It teaches 112 dharanas or ways of centring awareness and entering divine consciousness, which include ordinary and extraordinary experiences, as well as Tantric methods of spiritual practice such as kundalini, mantra and mudra. This ancient text is of great relevanee for a spirituality of our times which has to integrate all aspects of life.

He embodied a rare unity of a mystic and a pandit, being well-versed in Sanskrit and in the texts of the non-dualistic tradition of Kashmir Shaivism. He was also called the Abhinavagupta of the twentieth century, being the last authority of Kashmir Shaivism, who was teaching scholars and guiding seekers on the spiritual path. He edited several Sanskrit texts and published Hindi translations and commentaries, such as Abhinavagupta’s Gitarthasamgraha Sambapanchashika, Utpaladeva’s Shivastotravali, Abhinavagupta’s Paratrishika Vivarana and others. Some of his teachings and lectures have been published in English: Kashmir Shaivism: The Secret Supreme, The Awakening of Supreme Consciousness, Self Realization in Kashmir Saivism, and in Hindi: Trikashastra-Rahasya Prakriya. His commentary on the Shiva Sutras has already been published.

Xuanzang's main mission in this endeavour appears to be twofold: (i) the establishment and elucidation of the thesis of vijnaptimatra, and this predominantly on the basis of Dharmapala-Silabhadra's expositions; (ii) the harmonization of the earlier yogacara doctrinal interpretations, and in so doing also the definitive establishment of the superiority of the Mahayana bodhisattva ideal. The CWSL may be said to be one of the most precious gems in the whole of the Chinese Tripitaka. In the preface to his Shuji, Kuiji eulogizes the CWSL thus: This treatise purifies true cognition. Its expositions include the provisional as well as the ultimate teachings, going far beyond the early teachings of the historical Buddha. Its doctrines penetrate into the subtlest. They catch hold of the Prajnaparamita tenets and ride on their colourful brilliance. The treatise summarizes the essential teachings of the sutras, seeking out their hidden teachings and assimilating their purposes. It further incorporates the best of all the sastras, gathering up the most wonderful. The CWSL is a compilation containing the ten individual commentaries on Vasubandhu's Trimsika by 1. Dharmapala; 2. Gunamati; 3. Sthiramati; 4. Bandhusri; 5. Nanda; 6. Suddhacandra; 7. Citrabhanu; 8. Visesamitra; 9. Jinaputra and 10. Jnanacandra which are herewith collected together and translated in detail in a single text.

In the Cheng weishi lun, completed in 659, Xuanzang presents Vasubandhu s Tri?sika in the context of its Indian commentaries and on the background of Yogacara works such as the Yogacarabhumi, Dasabhumi and bhidharmasamuccaya. Xuanzang had brought these and many other texts back to China in 645 after studying in India for fifteen years. He subsequently translated seventy-five works, making him the most productive of all Chinese translators from the Sanskrit, and by completing what Bodhiruci/Ratnamati and Paramartha had started out, he was the first to make the Yogacara systematically available in China. VASUBANDHU (ca. 350 430 A.D.) was born in Puru?apura in Gandhara and is, next to his half-brother Asa?ga (ca. 330 405 A.D.), the most famous personage of the Yogacara school. He originally belonged to the Sravakayana school of the Sarvastivadins and had already made a name for himself through the composition of numerous treatises when he was won over to the Mahayana by Asanga, sometime in his forties. Vasubandhu counts as the great systematizer of Buddhism and is one of the six great ornaments six great commentators of the Buddha s teaching.

Only the wise and worthy may sit on this throne! In the time of Raja Bhoja of Ujjain, a magnificent throne, carved exquisitely with 32 puppets, was discovered under a hillock. Enamoured by its appearance, the king had it polished and set up in his court. As he made his way towards it, one of the puppets came to life and warned him that none but the worthy King Vikramaditya could sit on the throne. Each day, the king would approach the throne and each day, another puppet would come to life and caution the king. The tales of Vikramaditya as told by the 32 puppets to Raja Bhoja are immortalized in the book, Singhasan Battisi. Handed down from generation to generation, these stories continue to enchant readers, young and old alike.

But was the Halahala truly destroyed?

A small portion still remains – a weapon powerful enough to guarantee victory to whoever possesses it. And both asuras and devas, locked in battle for supremacy, will stop at nothing to claim it.

As the forces of Devaloka and Patala, led by Indra and Shukracharya, plot to possess the Halahala, Shiva turns to mankind to guard it from their murderous clutches. It is now up to Samrat Vikramaditya and his Council of Nine to quell the supernatural hordes – and prevent the universe from tumbling into chaos!

A sweeping tale of honour and courage in the face of infinite danger, greed and deceit, the Guardians of the Halahala is a fantastical journey into a time of myth and legend.

Ujjayini lies battered; its citizens are scared and morale is badly shaken. Meanwhile, the barbaric Hunas and Sakas are gathering on the horizon and cracks are emerging between the allied kingdoms of Sindhuvarta...

The only silver lining is that the deadly Halahala is safe. For now.

Bent on vengeance, Indra is already scheming to destroy Vikramaditya, while Shukracharya has a plan that can spell the doom for the Guardians of the Halahala. How long can the human army hold out against the ferocity and cunning of the devas and asuras? And will Vikramaditya’s love for his queen come in the way of his promise to Shiva?

As cracks emerge between the councilors and their king, ghosts from the past threaten to ruin Vikramaditya and Kalidasa’s friendship, signaling the beginning of an eclipse that will cast a long shadow over all that Vikramaditya holds dear. And into this shadow steps Indra, bearing an old grudge – and a devastating new weapon.

The Lord Krsna abandoned his earthly mistresses who then spent their days of separation pining for his return. This powerful theme found expression not only in myth, but also in the devotion and poetry of a religious culture which evolved in South India. From the fifth century A.D. the Tamils absorbed many elements from the classical traditions of the North, such as yoga, temple worship and Krsna myths, and the results were unique blends of the two civilizations. Viraha-bhakti, as the author styles this type of Krsna religion, imbued the theme of separation with erotic and ecstatic features and evolved as one of the highlights of Indian religion and culture. The present work is a detailed study of the multifarious origins of Viraha-bhakti in South India and its developments up to the point at which it entered the pan-Indian scene.

The study suggests a revision of the monolithic image of Indian religion implied in much scholarly literature. It differentiates a great variety of interacting traditions and milieux, and demonstrates the dynamism of Indian culture. By identifying a specific type of religion and reflecting on its significance, the author attempts, at the same time, to go beyond purely textual and historical considerations. Bhakti manifests itself prominently in the Bhagavadgita, and scholars have debated whether it is already noticeable in even earlier texts. However, few readers had realized that there are different kinds of bhakti, that bhakti of the Bhagavadgita is not the same as the bhakti that finds expression in numerous more recent texts. This changed witht eh publication of Friedhelm Hardy’s Viraha-bhakti in 1983. Viraha-bhakti means “bhakti in sepration”, and this emotional form of bhakti is to be distinguished from the more intellectual bhakti that characterizes the Bhagavadgita. Hardy shows in this book how this emotional form of bhakti originated with the South Indian alvars, and only subsequently came to be adopted in the Sanskrit Bhagavata Purana and spread to North India.

It is matter of pride and satisfaction that it is now included in the Hindu Tradition Series.

He tactfully transforms his aggressive and determined focus into achieving his targets. He represents tomorrow’s captain of the Indian team and also the youth of the country who can transform the nation. His attitude as the book reveals is not only of a swift and apt cricketer of the nation but an icon for any youth who wants to succeed through determination. It is a well-researched book on Kohli and highlights the man behind this face. It narrates Kohli’s story since he had been the captain of Under 19 and won the World Cup and his subsequent welcome to the Indian cricket team. He can never be forgotten for the significant role he played in World Cup of 2011 and his strong and captive fielding ability elevates this young man far above the imaginations of the common spectators and cricket lovers of all time. With his star-like look and good physique, he had also captured the celluloid with various advertisements and the book covers it all and looks forward to see what more is in store for Kohli.

As the sustainer of the elements, the lord of ten principal avatars, and the god of a thousand names – Rama, Krishna, Varaha, Narasimha, Narayana – Vishnu is an enigma and an intellectual challenge. The book untangles the bulk of this Godhead’s philosophy. Through a narrative that is eminently simple, and images that compliment a lucidly-written text, the book guides the reader through Vaishnava belief, history, folklore and myth.

Words like ‘Holy, Merciful, Compassionate, Truth and the One’ appear in all these religions, emphasizing that however we worship, the Lord is one and the same.

He is worshipped by millions in his incarnations as Rama and Krishna. Eknath Easwaran comments on a fraction of these names and what each one means in our daily lives. This is a book for daily inspiration, full of personal reminders of what it means to see God in the faces and events of everyday life.
