    Description:

    Introduction
The concept of stress is as elusive as it is important. Stress is
ubiquitous. No person escapes of some sort or the other in daily life.
In this sense people are seen as passive helpless victims of the
stress phenomenon. In a sense it is a new generic term for 'cause-
    effect' relationships.
The aim of every human being is to survive as happily as possible.
In an ever changing world and to achieve the highest possible
consistent with one's potentialities. It is the gap between achievement
and expectation that leads to stress. For the present concept of stress
we owe a great deal to the pioneering work of Prof. Hans Selye, who
was awarded the Nobel Prize for this work.
    What is Stress ?
    (a) Definition:

Stress is now formalized to mean - any change within a system
induced by external forces. Stress is a demand on our adaptability to
evoke a response. In a fast changing world the demands on human
adaptability are great and hence, chances of stress being produced
    are greatly enhanced.
    (b) Selye's Concept:

Prof. Selye noted that animals exposed to a wide variety of noxious
agents, underwent a somewhat 'stereotypic pattern' of physiological
changes. In this sense they were 'non-specific'. He designated this
response pattern as 'General Adaptation Syndrome'(GAS) and the
stimuli that provoke the syndrome were called 'stresses' or 'stressors'.
Derailment of GAS produces 'diseases of adaptation'. In GAS the
bodily physiological responses evolve in three stages:
    (a) The 'alarm reaction'

    (b) The 'stage of resistance'

    (c) The 'stage of exhaustion' - implies a decline of defence

M. Y. M. Samiti, Lonavla. The entire text was in Sanskrit. In 1976 a revised edition was published by the Kaivalyadhama S. M. Y. M. Samiti which was also in Sanskrit. Looking to the importance of this text in the evolution and history of the developments in Yoga and the interest of the people in general in the study of Yoga, we had promised at the time of publication of the revised second edition that the English edition of the text would soon be brought out. We are happy to fulfill our promise by presenting to the readers this English edition of the Brhadyogi-Yajnyavalkya Smrti. This edition has been made more useful not only by mere translation but also by addition of Glossary of important terms, index and a reproduction of the original article by Swami Kuvalayananda and Raghunathshastri Kokaje, the editors of the Sanskrit critical edition, high - lighting the circumstances behind the search of the manuscript, salient features, controversy on the originality raised by Shri P. C. Diwanji and clear-cut reply to the objections raised. We hope that the readers will appreciate our efforts. Understanding Ramayana as Rama Within is an attempt at enacting the Ramayana using the body – both the physical and the metaphysical ones – as the stage. With Ravana representing the ego, Laksmana the body, Sita the mind, and Ram the soul, the book traces the spiritual journey from the outward to the inward. It speaks of the divinity that is man. With vibrant paintings and colour plates, the book is as much a visual treat as it is an intellectual delight.

Dashavatar is a collection of ten spell-binding stories for children. In each of the narratives, the world is on the brink of collapse, entrenched in vice and sin, when the Lord decides to intervene and rescue it. He takes on a variety of forms, sometimes splendorous, at other times disarmingly humble. From Matsya avatar, where Vishnu assumes the shape of a fish, to Vamana avatar, where he shrinks in size, from Krishna avatar, where he becomes the Blue One, the eternal flutist, to Kalki, the future, where he will ride astride a horse and reinstate justice, each of the stories speaks of the Lord’s benevolence, and the triumph of good over evil.

                              Description:

Balaji–Venkateshwara: An Introduction attempts to unravel the life of Balaji and study his temple, nestled in the hills of South India. It is said that Lord Vishnu, to rescue a world in distress, took the form of Balaji-Venkateshwara, the destroyer of all sins. Yet, who really was Balaji? What is the legend behind his incarnation? What are the stories behind his temple’s origin? What are the meanings behind the rituals he demands? The book attempts to answer these questions, and more, for the pilgrim-soul.

The Temple of Balaji or Venkateshwara on Tirumala hill above the town of Tirupati in India has become a focal point of contemporary religion attracting crowds of all ages, faiths and Nationaliteis. However, not much is known about the God,except his ability to answer prayers and perform the most improbable miracles. Not many people are aware that the sanctity of the God and the hill is over two thousand years old. What makes the temple so popular, and what are the beliefs of the people, are the questions that this Book has tried to answer.

This Book is a collection of the folk legends about Venkateshwara, the sacred Tirumala hill and it's many lakes and waterfalls, his miracles, and the beutiful rituals and festivals associated with him.He is a manifestation of Vishnu the preserver, and his association with the other incarnations is well documented.

There are rare photographs of the God,his gold and diamond jewellery, the various other bronzes and sculptures contained in the temple and the images of the festivals for which Tirumala has been famous from time immemorial. The illustrations of the stories have been executed in the Tirupati style of drawing.

This Book should be of equal interest to to the layman, the scholar and the devotee, and a valuable addition to every home and library.

Adi Sankara’s Bhaja Govindam is a little collection of thirty-one verses in Sanskrit by the saint and scholar Adi Sankaracharya and his disciples. Also known as Moha Mudgara or The End of Illusion, the verses look at the eternal question of man’s quest for happiness in a world that is transient and filled with delusions. Sankara in clear and lucid language, (probably the simplest Sanskrit text available) speaks of man’s weaknesses – lust, anger, greed and attachment – and the steps needed to overcome them. Our present translation includes stories from the vast repertoire of wisdom literature across a wide spectrum of spiritual traditions. It also contains an exhaustive biography of Adi Sankara himself, his contribution to Hinduism and a chapter on the relevance of Bhaja Govindam today.

In the depths of all of us there is a secret longing,a silent impulse,a soaring ambition to do something beautifully great, spectacularly noble, and surely endearing. This is a divine summon from the deeper pressure in us,to take off from the decaying levels of mediocrity into voiceless heights of spontaneity and perfection. We must hark to these indisputable intimations divine-too sacred to ignore, too cruel,if we should reject." -Swami Chinmayananda. The Guru-disciple relationship is the bedrock of spirituality. For the disciple there is no one higher than the Guru. His attunement with his spiritual mentor is a pressing need; a seamless communion with the Guru the ladder on which he climbs up the path to deeper self-investigation. This connection has to be tenacious as well as flexible, ardent as well as judicious, vibrant but relaxed, pure yet easy. The Guru and disciple are after all one and the same: The entirety of spirituality lies in this realization.

Though the teachings of Guruji, the Satguru of the author, this book shows how a disciple may commence laying the foundation of this supreme tie and go about the spiritual journey. The teachings, given out through the shabads, are universal yet unique. They are this-worldly yet capable of ushering the sincere practitioner to the arms of the beloved infinite. They establish the grounds of humanity and of its dharma. They show that the Satguru is alone real, the pole star of the disciple, the husbandman and protector of his soul, the truth that the earnest disciple and a misguided humanity seek in varied ways.

This book is a pilgrimage into the sacred territory of the Satguru s Word, a fulfilment in part of Guruji s instruction to his disciple. Guruji s words here are a great benediction, mapping our way to a common realm of love and light. They are the Word made vatic and sacrosanct, empowered by the truth-charge of his great being.

Gitavali Vol.3 -Complete Works of Goswami Tulsidas

Gitavali is of special significance to a devotee of Lord Rama. The Lord declared both in Ramacharitmanasa (VII.46) and in Srimad Bhagavadgita (IX.14) that by chanting His Glories one attains His Divine Bliss. Tulsi sings of the glory of the Saguna Form of Rama in highest ecstasy. He depicts the entire Creation: birds, beasts, Blossoms, trees, skies, clouds, fragrant breezes, day, night, Sun, Moon and stars paying obeisance to Rama, the Incarnated Lord of the Universe. Tulsi's love for Ayodhya is apparent in Gitavali. He sings of many events from the Deeds of Rama pertaining to Ayodhya. His songs of Holi, Diwali and jhoola (swing) festivals are unique.

Triples - Applications of Pythagorean Triples
Pythagorean triples, like 3,4,5 have been a fascination for thousands of years. Now for the first time a simple elegant system, based on these triples, has been developed which reveals unexpected applications in many areas of pure and applied mathematics. These include general applications in trigonometry, coordinate geometry (in 2 and 3 dimensions), transformations (in 2 and 3 dimensions), simple harmonic motion, astronomy etc.

The easy triple method links these areas and replaces large numbers of apparently unconnected formulae with a single device.

This book fully explains the various applications and most of it should be accessible to anyone with the basic understanding of mathematics which a school leaver should have.

The present work is an important contribution towards understanding the cultural environment in which the corrupts of man and nature were conceived in ancient India. This study has two principal objectives:
                                      1. To provide to the intellectuals presently involved in the search for a new “ecological” ethics a set of information regarding the traditional Indian conceptions of man and nature.
                                      2. To review the philosophical values on which Hinduism is based from a viewpoint which in has intense intellectual and emotional resonance in the understanding of the present generation of university students.
Since the author explains the ancient ideas from a perspective which has contemporary relevance, the book has the rare virtue of presenting the Hindu philosophical systems in a style which is clearly intelligible even for neophytes. At the same time his scholastic review of esoteric topics like the “Psychology of Samkhya” a and the “Cosmology of Shaivism” makes the book a significant reading also for authorities on Indology.

                                      About Author:

Stefano De Santis was born in Rome in the year 1957. By profession a cultural anthropologist, he has worked in India for more than five years as a development consultant for projects which aim at preserving the cultural and natural heritage while improving the economic standard of the people. “At a certain point of my life I realized that I could not understand the cultural values of Indian tradition without a deep study of the Hindu philosophical schools.” So for five years he left his anthropological fieldwork in the rural areas and went to study at Banaras. There he took his second doctorate at the Banaras Hindu University with a research on “The Relationship Between Man and Nature”. He also directed the documentary film “Into Our Nature”, produced by SociecoS for the Indian Television, which was telecast in different countries and made his field of research popular to a wider international audience.

                                      Description

In My Gita, acclaimed mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik demystifies The Bhagavad Gita for the contemporary reader. His unique approach—thematic rather than verse-by-verse—makes the ancient treatise eminently accessible, combined as it is with his trademark illustrations and simple diagrams.
In a world that seems spellbound by argument over dialogue, vi-vaad over sam-vaad, Devdutt highlights how Krishna nudges Arjuna to understand rather than judge his relationships. This becomes relevant today when we are increasingly indulging and isolating the self (self-improvement, self-actualization, self-realization—even selfies!).We forget that we live in an ecosystem of others, where we can nourish each other with food, love and meaning, even when we fight.
So let My Gita inform your Gita.

                                      Description:

This is a creative manifestation of a long, on-going, deepest realization in a Tantric vision, i.e. expanding timeless wisdom in present time, in a dynamic manner, first time encapsulated in this book. This is a creative flash came out from the inmost being of an aspirant of Shiva. The worldwide serious debate on consciousness has now become off-the-cuff interaction in science and philosophy, especially in neuroscience and brain science, and also in metaphysics. The entire conversation has been shifted from experiencing what is without an atom of psychological yesterdays in terms of “recent findings”. The semantic allegory “White Shadow” comprehends all the problems related to pain, evil and existence, epistemological as well as ontological proof of lime consciousness, and elucidates our integral presence in relation to divine tranquillity.
With a great lineage of Pandit Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar and Pandit Suniti Kumar Chaturjya, Gautam Chatterjee is, in his childhood, initiated with the benediction of Pt. Gopinath Kaviraj, and has been a close associate of Thakur Jaidev Singh and Pt. Vraj Vallabh Dwivedi in the discipline of Kashmir Shaivism. He is the founder president of Abhinavagupta academy, a centre for consciousness studies in Banaras, developed a lucid way to yoga practices to enrich the richest tradition of monistic Shaivism in Kashi, spiritually and ontologically, and also metaphysically. Engaged in translating Tantraloka a magnum opus by Abhinavagupta from Sanskrit to English (four volumes have been published), Shree Gautam teaches conscious communication in Banaras Hindu University

The Vijnana Bhairava is one of the most important Tantras of Kashmir Shaivism as far as the practical aspect of yoga of this school is concerned. It teaches 112 dharanas or ways of centring awareness and entering divine consciousness, which include ordinary and extraordinary experiences, as well as Tantric methods of spiritual practice such as kundalini, mantra and mudra. This ancient text is of great relevanee for a spirituality of our times which has to integrate all aspects of life.
The present edition, translation and commentary is unique since it contains the oral teaching of the last great master of the Kashmir Shaiva tradition, Swami Lakshman Job. In his explanation of the dharanas he gives the deep significance and practical application of various methods of yoga which give direct access to states of higher consciousness.

Swami Lakshman Joo (1907-91), also called Swami Lakshmanji Raina or Ishvara Svarupa, was a great yogi from an early age. He embodied a rare unity of a mystic and a pandit, being well-versed in Sanskrit and in the texts of the non-dualistic tradition of Kashmir Shaivism. He was also called the Abhinavagupta of the twentieth century, being the last authority of Kashmir Shaivism, who was teaching scholars and guiding seekers on the spiritual path. He edited several Sanskrit texts and published Hindi translations and commentaries, such as Abhinavagupta’s Gitarthasamgraha Sambapanchashika, Utpaladeva’s Shivastotravali, Abhinavagupta’s Paratrishika Vivarana and others. Some of his teachings and lectures have been published in English: Kashmir Shaivism: The Secret Supreme, The Awakening of Supreme Consciousness, Self Realization in Kashmir Saivism, and in Hindi: Trikashastra-Rahasya Prakriya.
