      DESCRIPTION:

      Timeless Wisdom for Leaders

The Bhagavad Gita has been considered a scriptural summary of ancient teachings and wisdom of the East. It has withstood the test of time for thousands of years and has been studied in the contexts of philosophy, theology and literature. Bhagavad Gita on Effective Leadership is the first to compare its wisdom with theories and practices of leadership. Contemporary topics such as ‘emotional intelligence’ and ‘servant leadership’ were already discussed in the Bhagavad Gita thousands of years ago. This book explains how those and many other leadership topics were explored in the ancient text and how they are still relevant today.

In the early 2000s, Pujan Roka studied the relevance of the Bhagavad Gita to the business world and in 2006, published his analysis in Bhagavad Gita on Effective Leadership. He is currently Director of Product Management at Cox Communications in Atlanta. He has written extensively for publications like The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Chief Executive.

                          Description

The Bhagavad Gita is a dramatic poem which forms a small part of the great epic, the Mahabharata. The poem is the dialogue through which Arjuna`s doubts are resolved by KrIsna`s teaching about the nature and place of action in the ultimate reality of things. The present translation is supplemented by a commentary; both seek to emphasize how the teaching is rooted in the concrete situation, and how its order and structure reflect the changing condition of the conversant and the purpose of the conversation. Footnotes and notes are included to clarify the Sanskrit, to indicate alternative translations, and to note relevant comments from other commentators and translators.

                          DESCRIPTION:
Among the priceless teachings that may be found in the great Hindu poem of the Mahabharata, there is none so rare and and precious as this, 'The Lord's Song'. Since it fell from the divine lips of Shri Krishna on the field of battle and stilled the surging emotions of his disciple and friend, how many troubled hearts has it quieted and
strengthened, how many weary souls has it led to Him! It is meant to lift the aspirant from the lower levels of renunciation, where objects are renounced, to the loftier heights where desires are dead, and where the Yogi dwells in calm and ceaseless contemplation, while his body and mind are actively employed in discharging the
duties that fall to his lot in life.

That the spiritual man need not be a recluse, that union with the divine Life may be achieved and maintained in the midst of worldly affairs, that the obstacles to the union lie not outside us but within us-such is the central lesson of the BHAGAVADGITA

Annie Besant in the preface to the book.

                          Description:

Although Pandu’s son Arjuna was widely known as one who in combat could single-handedly fight and defeat 1,000 opposing warriors simultaneously, he was twice traumatized and brought to his knees on the battlefield of  Kurukshetra. The first time was upon seeing countless loved ones eager for bloodshed on both sides of the impending fray. The second was upon discovering that his own charioteer, a bosom friend since adolescence, could not only speak about the experience of awakening to one’s true nature, but could also provide the experience of beholding the infinite form of the one universal Self. Complete with word-for-word transliteration, this new presentation of  India’s timeless spiritual classic illuminates many subtle details which readers may find themselves either relishing for the very first time, or revisiting with a new level of penetration and appreciation.

“More than just beautifully translating the Gita, Sajohn Daverly sublimely transmits the mystery of awakened life in human circumstances. We can read his translation of this ancient, divine text and find it alive in our own hearts, here, today.”
                          - Gangaji, spiritual teacher and author of The Diamond In Your Pocket
“This Gita is a real gem because it builds a bridge between the traditional approach and the very contemporary one, bringing the ancient teaching to life and making it relevant to the modern reader.”

“Sajohn’s direct knowing and immersion in the unknown gives him the unique authority to explain and clarify in scholarly terms the profound understanding linking the essential truth and alignment between Vedanta and Zen Buddhism.”

                            Description

The Gita offers a succinct summary of ancient Indian philosophy, with particular emphasis on the Supreme Spirit as both immanent and transcendent. Since its introduction into the Western world some two hundred years ago, the poem has been translated into practically every modern tongue, and is today the most widely read and discussed of all Eastern scriptures. Its emphasis is on two aspects selflessness. Recension of the Gita, combined with illuminating Essays on the poem make the present work unique. It works as a bridge between the Gita`s oriental approach and modern occidental thought.

                            About the Book

Fraught with feelings of self-doubt and hopelessness, a great warrior collapses in self-defeat, posing questions for his charioteer, just before the immense battle begins on the plain of Kuruksetra. It is as if there was an interruption of the epic story of the Mahabharata, which pauses dramatically for the dialogue between teacher, Sri Krsna, and his disciple, Arjuna, which is known as the Bhagavadgita. This dialogue has been handed down as part of the oral Vedic tradition in an unbroken line of knowledge for more than 5000 years. And despite such antiquity, Arjuna's questions remain just as relevant today, because the human sense of insufficiency and desire for fulfilment are timeless. Fortunately for Arjuna – and for all of us – the solution is also timeless. Sri Krsa teaches him the knowledge about the ultimate truth of the Self, the essential nature of the human being covering the topics of dharma (appropriate action to fulfil what must be done) and yoga (to do so unmoved by the results of such action), while keeping a vision of Isvara (the Cause and the Order that is the Universe) in order to attain moksa, final liberation from the human sense of limitation. With an unwavering dedication to the original Sanskrit and to the tradition of Advaita Vedanta, Gloria Arieira unfolds the beauty and clarity of the message that is the Bhagavadgita, the very knowledge of the Self that removed Arjuna's confusion, allowing him to rise to his feet once again.

It details the relationship of Ramana Maharshi with different animals and his compassion and love for them and how they reacted to his care and love for them. He could easily communicate the animal kingdom.

Sri Ramana Maharshi (Tamil: ) (December 30, 1879 April 14, 1950), born Venkataraman Iyer, was a Hindu sage. He was born to a Tamil-speaking Brahmin family in Tiruchuzhi, Tamil Nadu. After having attained liberation at the age of 16, he left home for Arunachala, a mountain considered sacred by Hindus, at Tiruvannamalai, and lived there for the rest of his life. Although born a Brahmin, after having attained moksha he declared himself an "Atiasrami", a Sastraic state of unattachment to anything in life and beyond all caste restrictions. The ashram that grew around him, Sri Ramana Ashram is situated at the foothill of Arunchala, to the west to the pilgrimage town of Tiruvannamalai. Sri Ramana maintained that the purest form of his teachings was the powerful silence which radiated from his presence and quieted the minds of those attuned to it. He gave verbal teachings only for the benefit of those who could not understand his silence. His verbal teachings were said to flow from his direct experience of Consciousness (Atman) as the only existing reality. When asked for advice, he recommended self-enquiry as the fastest path to moksha. Though his primary teaching is associated with Non-dualism, Advaita Vedanta, and Jnana yoga, he recommended Bhakti to those he saw were fit for it, and gave his approval to a variety of paths and practices The devotees who witnessed Bhagavan Ramana's effortless and natural sense of equality and his treating all beings alike including animals, birds and plants have expressed their sense of wonder and have affirmed that they had not seen such an instance eleswhere in their lives. In Bhagavan's days, his Ashram was like an ancient Rishi ashram where birds and animals lived fearlessly and in friendship. Bhagavan's relationship with animals is mainly to inspire us to respect the entire creation of the Lord without discrimination. Description

Even after he has composed the awesome Mahabharata, the Maharishi Vyasa finds no peace. Narada Muni says to him, Ordinary men will be delighted by your work, but what about the Sages of heaven and earth? You have described the human life, its strife and its ends, but you have not yet described the Lord himself. You must turn your great gift to that task; only then will you find peace. Veda Vyasa composes the Bhagavata Purana, in eighteen thousand slokas and twelve kandas. He teaches it to his illumined son Suka, who narrates the Secret Purana to Yudhishtira s heir, King Parikshit, on the banks of the Ganga. The Bhagavata Purana is a living embodiment of the Lord Narayana and claims to bestow moksha merely by being heard. Just before Krishna, the Avatara, leaves the world, Uddhava says to him, leave us a tangible form, Lord, in which we can find you, touch you, and be near you. Krishna enters the Bhagavata Purana with all of his being. This book is a full literary rendering of the Bhagavata Purana, bringing all the wonder, wisdom and grace of the Book of God to the modern reader.
